Yeah I bought a couple of Milwaukee hex extension shafts as they are really good quality and a tight fit unlike several others I have, but even with them the hex shaft on the forstners is just far too flimsy to use reliably and the results were even worse I found.

Funnily enough one of the Carbitools forstners was actually sloppy in the extender, which indicates machining tolerances not being consistent.

I found too much flex in the hex on the actual bit, not extensions etc.

Axminster (UK) have 120mm long TCT forstner bits but only in 20, 25, 30, 35, 40mm diameters. Axcaliber Long TCT Forstner Boring Bits | Axminster Tools International

What about using a extension with the Timbecon TCT bits? I've got a whole bunch of the Timbecon bits and they are pretty amazing to use in a drill press. Nice meaty shank (not hex!), fast cutting, clean holes and it goes through spotted gum and blackbutt like butter. Can't speak for any extensions, so far the normal length has been fine for me.

Yeah, I saw Timbecon and McJing have 10mm shank forstners along with extensions, so I might get some next month and see how they go. They'd have to be better than the hex shank. If Axminster had a bigger range they'd be perfect.
