    Default Thicknesser

    Hey Guys,

I am after a thicknesser, preferably something with some cast iron in it.
I am located on the central coast of NSW.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

I have been considering selling my thicknesser - Carbatec CTJ-381 380mm/15" three knife. I am near Taree.

    What was your budget?

    Hey mate,
I did buy a benchtop thicknesser but would be interested to know some more information about yours.

    Hi Tom,

Its in good condition, I bought it used brom a hobby woodworker and its done minor stuff for me for the most part.
The three blased are bimetal (tungsten tipped) with about 8mm of the tungsten left. I have sharpened them about 3 times on my tormek with a modified jig.

The infeed/outfeed tables are solid cast and show some patina from surface rust which is hard to manage here, overall, its in very good condition and cuts a wondefully smooth finish.

Reason for sale is I have a 6" jointer and want something bigger, like 10 or 12" but a 12" jointer is huge, and expensive, so I'm thinking I will seek out one of those under/over thicknesser/jointer combos.

I'd be looking for around $950, collect from Kew.

It is exactly the same as the new Carbatec machines, just the older pale blueish colour

    Thanks

    Colin,

I am interested, sounds like a good machine. would love to see some pictures. You wouldnt happen to know if it's a model where helical heads are readily available?

    Thanks,
    Tom
