Default Triton Router MFO001 plunge spring

Just wondering whether anyone has a spring for the router that they no longer use due to router being permanently table mounted. I have a pre-loved MFO001 (but sadly missing the spring) mounted in my table but occasionally would like to use it in freehand mode.

    Hi Jane

Have a browse through gumtree. I’ve recently seen a few routers listed. Some dead for parts only.
    Good luck

Sorry Jane, I got sidetracked yesterday - I'm sure you would understand when you go into the shed for one thing and find other things that suddenly become important.

Probably won't get a chance today but I'm pretty sure I have an extra one of these from sending a router back for a warranty repair without replacing the spring and getting back a brand new one complete with spring.

Give me a day or two.

Sorry Jane, haven't found it yet, the cold weather has been playing havoc with my back. I have hardly ventured out of the heated loungeroom for a few days. I still want to find it for you.

That's ok. No rush. It's the other way around at my place - 16deg or less in the house during the day (don't use heater during the day), but a beautiful 23+ in the workshop with the sun streaming in through my double glass sliding doors. Nice place to work or just stuff around and waste time . Shorts and tee shirt while 8 deg outside.

I'm still on the look out for a plunge spring for my Triton MFO001 - if someone has one that don't use. Doug's search wasn't as successful as we hoped.

I have a complete dead MOF-001 free to give away for parts - it was table mounted, but I'm sure I kept the spring when I took it out. Will check the shed tomorrow.

If anyone wants any other bits off it before it gets turfed, just holler. I have a replacement TRA-001 to go in my table in place of the (late) MOF-001, this might kick me into swapping the routers around. Yes, I bought Triton again, thereby illustrating my inability to learn from my mistakes.

That is a kind offer there Mr Brush. I'm looking for the worm drive in the fine height adjustment section if you still have that available.
Please PM me with your contact details so that we can make some suitable arrangements.

    Many thanks,

    Alan...

Alan - I definitely have that bit, as I had to purchase a replacement and fit it. May have a spare set of brushes too.

I'll pull the thing apart tomorrow and put some photos up, then sort out PMs for who wants what. This particular router went through two replacement variable speed modules, and when it needed a third I gave up on it. Bearings were a bit rough too, but all parts like worm gear, winders, and other plastic bits should be fine.

I have a spring and I know where it is. Have recently moved to Bundaberg and found it while setting up the new shed.

"I'm just going out to the shed and I may be some time..." - Captain Oates, Scott Antarctic Expedition, 1912

Christ - tricky getting anything done out there when your hands stick to any bare metal surfaces. Having searched high and low, I'm sorry to report that the plunge spring for MOF-001 remains elusive. Has anyone else managed to find one for the OP yet, if not I'll keep looking. I did, however, disembowel the dead MOF-001 (it's OK, it was carrying an organ donor card)

If anyone can see any bits they'd like from this, please let me know. I may post a new thread for the benefit of other MOF-001 owners.

However, (for Alan), I do have two of the plastic worm gears plus 2 sets of brushes: -

Alan - if you only want one worm gear plus a set of brushes, let me know and someone else can have the other.

I'll do a bit of surgery tomorrow to make sure it is just the worm gear that is required and I will get back to you with my findings. You are right about it being a tad cold, glad I don't have to battle with a covering of snow like some of our forumites in the blue mountains.

Just make sure that you have the little internal metal tab that holds the worm gear in place - if yours is damaged, it should still have all the other parts required. My MOF-001 had the rise/fall working perfectly, so all the parts are available - it was the speed control and motor that did it in. I assume that you have the excellent Ray Girling instructions on how to get into your MOF-001
