I’ve done away with my SCMS, and have been cross cutting stock to rough size using the jigsaw. That works fine, but it would be better to just do that by hand with decent handsaw. I don’t know heaps about handsaws, but I think I want a 26 inch 6-7ppi saw, from Spear and Jackson, Disston, or other similar makers of quality hand saws from a few decades either side of 1900.

I don’t want to spend much, but I’m happy to do a basic restoration (rejuvenate handle; deal with surface rust; sharpen). If you’ve got something that fits the bill, drop me a PM.
