Wood lathe Max $1000 all up
On the lookout for my first wood lathe. I'm after at least 800mm between centers so I can do table legs and wouldn't mind getting into some bowls etc at some point too. I don't have three phase power. Will to entertain interstate sales if we can arrange transport at a reasonable cost. Cheers.
Would rather not go down the carbatec or similar route.

There have been a few on Gumtree in Adelaide lately.
Generally at the cheaper end though, so I suspect for your budget you are looking for something better.
Any other parameters for your search?

Thanks for the reply mate, appreciate it.
Yeah i've been keeping an eye out on gumtree like you said though probably at the cheaper end.
Too many times I try to get a good deal on something cheap which I end up regretting when it's not really what I was after.
There is a vicmarc on gumtree over in NSW for 1100 i'd love but transport isn't easy.

I saw that one today. Looks quite old, but I would take it in preference to many others.

I wouldn't be worried about an old Vicmarc, even the early ones are built like a brick outhouse. Mine sat outside in the elements (albeit undercover) for over a year but with a bit of rust removal, new bearings and a fresh coat of paint she's good as new. It's one of their early models from 1989 and they were only formed in 1984 so they were obviously committed to quality from the start.

Thanks mate! Not long now, only got it up and running early this year and it's just about to be shifted out to its final home in the coming weeks.
