    Default Wood screws

I am after some (a box of if possible) 1 and 3/4 countersunk slotted head wood screws. 10 gauge. That is inch and three quarter - tens. 44 mm. Steel and or brass. If you have some or know where I can get some old stock and at sensible prices please let me know.

    I don't want phillips head.

For those that want to know how to determine gauge size. Measure across the head of the screw in 1/16ths. In my case the measurement would be 6/16ths. Minus one sixteenth to make 5/16 and double the 5 from the 5/16ths and you get 10. 10 being the gauge. Simple sort of but that's how it's done.

    Regards Col. Lara. Vic.

    Hi Col
That sounds like a size I could well have. Unfortunately (not for me) I am away until around the 21st. So if you have no luck let me know and I will check the sizes when I get home.

I have about 20 if you don't get any better offers. They are unused but pretty grotty.
I am happy to post to you if you want them.

Thanks for the reply. If I can't get the 10s at the right price I will contact you. How much are you wanting for them.

Hi Col. I have a part box of Sidney Cooke 1 3/4 10g in steel. The full box is a gross so there's possibly 100 or more (just guessing). The problem is i'm not sure if I want to sell them. I can't say I've used this size recently but I do use slotted screws for the period pieces I make. Anyway, let me know what they're worth if you think they may be useful and i'll hunt around and see if I can find enough outside of this box to keep me happy.

I'd rather you put a price on them instead of me going too low and causing an upset. I have a place not far from me that still sells slotted screws. I thought that they had shut down. I am waiting for them to get back to me with prices because of covid they no longer do counter sales. Keables in Footscray West.

    Hey Col
    I have 50mm x 12# solid brass c/s slot heads and 3” x 12# solid brass c/s slot heads if they’re any use.
    I needed some 40mm x 12# for a table I made so just ground 10mm off the 50s.

Hi Col. I've had a look around and the box of 1 1/2" 10g is all i've got of this size apart from some old recycled ones. As such, for the pittance they're probably worth and noting you have another source local to you I think I'll hang onto them. Sorry for the confusion.

    We have 1 3/4 inch 8g and 2 inch 10g. it appears that 1 3/4 10 G is a rare breed. Best of luck.
