    Thanks Eugene,

That would be great. I haven't contacted Boutique Timbers as I really don't need a lot of this. I have found an RT Baker labelled sample of the timber, but it really isn't enough for the purpose.

    Thanks very much,

    David

It was a stick of Yellow wood.
    55 square by 610 long.
I’ll post some pics when my phone decides to talk to my iPad.
How big a piece do you need and when?
We’ll be up to visit my bro in Murwillumbah late November or early December.
We always come up ti Brissy as the missus has rels there.
Can post if you need it now.

    WOW,

That sounds great. Half that length would be fine - or all if you don't want it. I'm happy to pay for it (a reasonable price). No panic as to timing sinse RHSQ has to apply for grant funding for the work (applications early 20220, so late November or early December 2021 would be fine. I can also offer a cuppa and 'tour' of Australian antique furniture and my modest workshop - if you and 'the missus' are interested?

Euge may also be able to offer some timber, so I may be able to off the Royal Society repairers a choice of figure for their repair work. That's always a problem with repairs - it's important to manage chatoyance and figure as closely as possible.

Dunno whasup but the phone still won’t talk to the iPad.
So I wandered out and took these with the iPad.
I’ll bring the stuff up with me and you pick half and I’ll turn up something from the other half.
It was a freeby to me so no $ needed, a cuppa, sticky beak and a yak sound good.

Perhaps it was Kirby Timber? Your comment jogged my memory as I remembered Dave Kirby at Maleny 2019.

    Hi David,

I have found 2 short boards from which I can cut the 2 lenghts you suggested to me. They are ex 5 x 1" (now 125 x 20 mm and but not clean you will need to sand them yourself). One is a commercial source (Aust dealer) labelled "Yellow wood" and the other was from a IWCS member labelled Flindersia xanthoxylla. Both are LIKELY to be correct ID but if important you can compare end grain with published or authentic sample to authenticate. Also one may match colour and figure better than another.

Let me know your address if you want them. Price will be right (ie a donation) as its for a public restoration.

    Cheers Eugene

Here are pics of freshly cut (end grain) from 2 boards from 2 different sources (maybe same mill or milling as dimensions are similar) One may be a better match that the other.

Hope to send then in next day or two. Thanks for details Dave.
