    Default Stanley #5 1/2 plane

This was the first plane I purchased when I was getting into hand tools about 30 years ago. I don't feel right that it should be sold, so I am offering it free. The conditions are that it should go to someone starting out and needing a hand plane, and that it be collected at my home. Sorry, no posting.

There are a couple of inconsequential issues: a small chip on the left side ...

... and the lever cap has been rounded at the lower end (I used it as a scrub plane for a while). As mentioned, neither of these affect the performance.

Repeat: FREE to a good home.

    Regards from Perth

Now that's a great score for someone! That's in pristine condition for something that's 30 years old.

I'd love to say i'd take it, but don't think i fall into the category of new woodworker or one that needs a handplane, i just don't have a 5 1/2.

Very admirable for you not to try and sell it. Another reason why this community is great to be apart of

Absolutely love that you are doing this.

If you have time, show the new person how to sharpen and tune it too.

Im still learning and i wish i had someone to show me rather than trying to teach myself from YouTube

    Hello Derek,
I am in Sydney and I'll take it if you can post it (at my expense of course!).
You can read a few stories of how I am starting my woodworking journey in some posts around the forum. Would also need to learn how to sharpen the blade... but that's another story ) !

    Hi Kuriatko

Apologies, but it needs to go to someone willing to pick it up. As mentioned earlier, no posting.

It’s a great idea to add a sharpening lesson at that time.

Ooops ... Apologies I didn't notice the "Pick up only" clause in your opening offer.
    My bad

In case you change your mind and decide to post the plane, I am here.
    Cheers
