Aged Leaves
Aged leaves (Aged wings series )
Here is my box for the box Challenge
Banksia turned in one piece with no waste wood
To turn the leaves protruding from the wing I tilted the piece over in the chuck and placed a tapered wedge in the jaws to sit the spigot on.Hot melt glue was used as additional support.
Carved then Copper leaf applied then verdigreed followed by airbrushing
Lacquer finish

It is a beautiful box but you should really post the pictures in the 'Critique pictures' section.
It would be tremendous if you would do a WIP here for a similar box (commenced not earlier than 1/8/09) so we could learn from your knowledge.Keith

I mean it though, it would be great if you could do a WIP - even if it is for a simper box. That's a very complicated (and beautiful) box, if you could share some of the skills that would be great!

Especially the leaves which stand up - I'd love to see them being done!

Wow!
The bar is getting higher and higher. That's a good thing too. I think.

Timberly has a nice website too http://www.timberly.co.nz/terry.htm - some stunning work!
There is some info there on technique. A WIP on one of those manta ray forms would be great though!!Keith
