    Default Eliza's Camphor Laurel box.

I have a chunk of wood.

That's as far as I've got.

    Want to see it???

And after seeing the aged leaves - I think I'm going to be sick for the rest of august and not be able to turn...

Default Here tis - number 1

A very basic tiny box in Camphor Laurel.

This piece didn't crack, thank goodness

I wanted to keep my first as basic as possible, very clean straight lines.

    I was concentrating on...

getting the walls thin and even
letting no end grain get away with any cheekiness
    cutting fine without breaking it.

I was a bit surprised when I managed the last one - because the walls, especially around the edge of the lid where it fits over, are much thinner then I've ever cut before.

It's 6.5cm across and 2.5cm in height, the lid being 1cm high.

Aren't the rays across the top pretty? They just showed up at exactly the point I had to stop cutting or go through. One of the fortunate pressies that timber gives to us evey now and then.

I'm happy with it, don't know what I'll do with it. Give it to mum to put err, pins in maybe.

And Eliza is off to a flying start. Beautiful little one there. Nice grain. nice finish. And the crowd goes wild.

    I thought you said lumpy.

Nice box Eliza and you have positioned the grain to show it off at its best. Well done, Robbie

I like it. Elegant in it's simplicity.

That's the sort of thing that seems to sell well; I think that people look at them and think "I've got a use for that!"
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    That thump was me fainting.

    At least I came to.

Now if Ken said something like that I think it would probably be fatal!

Thanks Ed - you made my year!!!!!!!!
