Been waiting for you to finish this one for a while, it looks great to me, well done
You'll have to bring it to the BBQ so we can have a decent look at it.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Well done! Been waiting to see it for a while.
I hereby nominate this the "most outside of the box" box in the box challenge
Cheers,
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

Shellac and Gleu (that's French for Glue)
.
Ummmmm being the legend of world renoun that I am... I have discovered that HIDE GLUE does not stick to shellac.
The shellac can be sanded through with a coarse cutting no fill sand paper, but....
I have not tried bonding any other glue types to the shellac - but my initial "educated guess" is that it probably won't work - or work very well.
If the parts are small enough to be stuck in a sealable container, then a good soak in metho will take all the shellac out of the grain - eventually.

What I did was finish th box with shellac, then drill the holes. With the finials I finished them on the lathe with white shellac then parted them off soo their ends were bare wood. They were then epoxied into their holes with 5 minute araldite cos I didn't want to stand there for 24 hours holding the loose ones till they set. There are a few spots where excess epoxy is squished out. I might fiddle with it to see if it comes off the shellac, if I get around toit.
I think I've decided I like REALLY TINY things and REALLY BIG things. Had an enjoyable day turning some red gum firewood into tiny bowls.anne-maria.

I can see bits of box in there. You cheating and skimping on the finials, eh, TL?
Definitely different.
