A beautiful email received for Bob Kettle. Well done Bob
to me
UNOFFICIAL
Good Morning,
Today I received a pen from your organisation skilfully crafted by Mr Bob Kettle. The pen is absolutely beautiful and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to receive one.
I would love to thank Mr Kettle personally if that is at all possible and hear why he got into making these pens for serving members of the ADF. I would be happy for you to share my email details with him if that is appropriate.
Thank you again for the work that your organisation does – it truly does mean a lot to those that are fortunate enough to receive a pen.
Kind regards,
Tash

Another email of appreciation for Russell Ball.
Dear Russell,
Just wanted to say that I have received an ANZAC pen, that has been produced by you. I thank you for the time and effort that you have taken to make a fine product. This year I will have been a serving member of the Australian Army for 40 years. First 25 years in Infantry, and the last 15 in logistics. Where I am currently serving aboard, HMAS CANBERRA as the Embarked Forces Logistics WO.
Thanks again and be assured it will be put to good use.
Thnx

A lovely email for Malcolm of Mount Gambia Woodturning Club
Dear Malcolm,
I was the lucky recipient of your beautifully crafted pen today. I received this after being involved with the Royal Commission for Defence and Veteran Suicide held in Perth. As a current Commanding Officer in the Air Force looking after people is near and dear to my heart so I was honoured to be a part of this.
Thank you to you and your colleagues for selflessly giving your time and expertise to provide us such a lovely gift. While us in Defence serve willingly these acknowledgments mean the world to us, knowing that it’s appreciated by strangers such as yourself.
I’ve served in Iraq, Afghanistan and against ISIS in Syria / Iraq and have again been touched by the generosity of people sending care packages to us overseas.
Having grown up in Adelaide I was particularly pleased to see a pen from Mt Gambier had made its way into my hands. I have fond memories of holidays on the train to Mt Gambier and Port Mac with my grandparents waaay back in the 80s. Its such a pretty part of the world, and enjoying crayfish didn’t harm the appeal either.
Again, thank you for a lovely gift and please know it will be treasured.
Warm Regards,
Grant

A lovely email I have just received for Bayside Woodturnersand Crafter's Club
Good Afternoon,
I am writing to convey my thanks to the Bayside Woodturners & Woodcrafters Club QLD for the wonderful pen that I received following my attendance at the Royal Commission into Defence and Veterans Suicide in Adelaide recently.
Attendance at the Royal Commission was an important duty and, as you can probably imagine, the content covered extremely serious in nature.
On completion, it was truly a pleasant surprise to receive the pen and to know that our service is recognised and appreciated by members of the Australian community.
Regards,
Mick

A nice email that I have just received. Well done Charles Slater
Dear Pens For The Troops,
I was touched to recently receive a stunningly beautiful handcrafted pen after an appearance before the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide. My pen was crafted by Charles Slater and is made from Rosewood which is apt given its association with love, healing and protection. Please pass on my sincere thanks to Charles - this pen will be cherished and used every day as it is not only beautiful but carries real meaning.
Kind regards
Lara

Another lovely email of thanks to Charles Slater. Well done Charles
Good afternoon,
After my recent Royal Commission appearance I received a Camphor Wood pen turned by Charles Slater. I wanted to write a short note, unfortunately not using the pen itself, to say thank you for the pen – it is a piece of fine craftsmanship I’ll appreciate over the years to come. I was touched by the gesture and wish all who contribute to ‘Pens for the Troops’ and in particular Charles who turned this pen, all the best.

I just love it. I absolutely appreciate your time in crafting such a beautiful keepsake, and for your support – thank you.

I have just received this lovely email of thanks. Thank you Jacko
Hi.
I have been posted to HMAS Canberra for the past two years and in the last few months of that posting, I was lucky enough to receive a pen, made by Bruce Sanders. It has the Australian flag on it and it is a lovely pen to have.
Please pass on my thanks to him. I am now posted to 723 SQN at HMAS Albatross as a flying instructor, so if he would like a ride in the EC135 simulator at HMAS Albatross then I would be delighted to take him for a spin.
Regards,
Jacko.
