Dear Bruce,
Just a quick note to say thank you for the wonderful pens that you forwarded to me for distribution to my team who are all equally grateful.
The workmanship of all of the pens is exceptional and I particularly liked the pens that you made yourself. I am pleased that the team left one of yours for me once they had chosen their own.
Regards
Another letter of thanks
Hello there,
I recently received a box of pens from Bruce Sanders in Rutherford with a note to distribute them to the detachment here.
You'll be happy to know that during a promotion ceremony for one of the lads from LAC to CPL I had all the crew together to talk to them and distribute the pens [some even on their day off hence the different clothing in the pic].
I'm happy to say the women and men of JTF 633.1.2 really liked the pens and are super appreciative of them. I saw them put to good use immediately. No need to thank us for our service, but thanks all the same!
Please see the attached photo of the group with their pens and please inform the folks who did the good work on them we admire the craftsmanship, the time put into making them and getting them here. Best of all the thought to do it in the first place is really appreciated.
Regards

Hello Bruce,
I recently received a pen curtesy of Pens for the Troops, made by “DonP”. A big Thank you to you and the team for taking the time to make/coordinate/send the pens across to the Middle East.
I very much appreciate the well-crafted wooden pen and look forward to putting it to use! The thought and sentiment of Pens for the Troops is also much appreciated. It is always nice to have a piece of Australia with you, when you can’t be at home.
Many thanks,

Bruce,
Today I received a pen from you !
First of all thank you very much what a great gift! It is amazing thee effort and commitment that you have put in to gift such an amazing gift. Small in size unique in so many ways and amazing craftsmanship !
It will take pride of place on my desk and will be in use every day! I will just need to put a bell 🛎 on it so it does not “find “ another home!
With much appreciation
Good Afternoon Bruce
I just wanted to extend my thanks for a beautiful pen I received today from the Pens for Troops box.
I am currently deployed as a Defence Civilian ( former Soldier) and was surprised to receive the pen today, All of the pens were beautiful and of such high quality, I didn’t know which one to choose.
Many thanks once again, and especially a huge thank you for thinking of our deployed troops.
Kind Regards,
G'day Bruce,
I'm a WO1 currently deployed overseas. I'm a RAEME Fitter & Turner by trade and can recognise a well crafted pen when I see one.
What a lovely surprise it was this afternoon when a young MAJ walked around offering us one of these beautifully made pens.
Please thank the clever machinist that produced my new prized possession.
I will use it with pride. Very much appreciated.

More letters of thanks
Good morning Bruce and Peter,
I wanted to take a moment to extend my thanks to you both for the lovely pen I received recently. MAJ came back from his ROCL with a box of beautifully crafted pens and I chose one that was engraved with ‘The Grampiens’ and a personalised signed note.
I am both impressed with the gift and humbled that you would take the time and effort to create these for us.
I will definitely put this lovely pen to good use during my deployment.
Many thanks again J
Jacquie.
Hello Pete
A quick email to thank you for your kind gift. Today I received one of the very well hand-made pens for the troops. The one I received unfortunately had no information with it to identify exactly who made it. However the gentleman next to me had one made by you.
In any case, I am very grateful for your kind gesture. Please do spread the word to your network also that this is an overall thank you for you all.
All the best to you and I hope you have a very special Remembrance Day.
Thank you once again.
Best Regards.

Hello Bruce, I am a deployed Air Force member, and the proud recipient of work of art (pen), made by Mik Lawrence. I am blown away by the generosity of you all, your devotion of time and energy into making so many pens for us! We received 2 boxes at work, and I was one of the first to look through all the many designs, each individually crafted and unique. It was certainly a difficult choice to choose my favourite.
My brother turns wood, and has made pens and the like before, so I know how time consuming it is, and how much skill, precision and patience is needed to make a pen that has the right look and feel. I have the 308 cartridge pen, using Jarrah wood. The Australian wood is such a lovely touch, as we do truly miss the Australian landscape.
Again, sincere thanks to you all, particularly Mik, for these gifts for Remembrance Day. You have put a smile on the faces of many sailors/soldiers/airmen, and it is important to know that we are not forgotten back home. Whenever I use my pen, I will remember my time here in the Middle East and the kindness of strangers back in Australia that were behind us.
kind regards
Jo

23rd October 2019, 08:46 AM #60Good Afternoon Peter,
It feels unjust, that I am writing you a thankyou letter utilising a computer, when I am in receipt of “Red Dog”.
By way of introduction, my name is Kelvin and I am currently serving on OPERATION ACCORDION within the Middle East Region as a Project Manager.
The organisation I work within, Engineer Support Element, manages infrastructure projects to support Australian deployed forces all across the Middle East.
It’s not my first rodeo and unlike others, I still enjoying penning a letter home to my loved ones as I did for my first deployments; when access to phone and computer was difficult to come by. I very much appreciate the time and craftsmanship which you have put into making this pen.
It is very humbling to know that people back home are still thinking of the men and women deployed; serving the nation which we all enjoy.
Yours Sincerely
