Received this email for Russell onite. Well done Russell.

    Good afternoon Russell,

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation out to yourself and your team for the wonderful pen you crafted for us onboard HMAS Perth. I chose one made of Blackwood. It will serve as a warm reminder that someone back at home is always thinking of us whilst we are deployed.

I thank you for your kindness and generosity.

    Warm regards,

A nice email received from Mark Whebell. Well done Mark.

    G’day Mark,

My name’s Aaron and I’m a Medical Officer currently deployed on Op ACCORDION in the UAE.

I just wanted to send you a quick email to show my appreciation and say thank you as I just received a Rosewood pen that you made through Pens for the Troops. It’s awesome! It looks amazing, I love using it and I reckon I’m pretty safe in saying this is the nicest pen I’ve ever owned. Thanks for taking the time to craft and donate it, it means a lot.

Hope you and yours are keeping safe back home.

    All the best mate,

A lovely email I have just received for Russell Ball

    G’day,

I received, through a very indirect and convoluted manner, an amazing pen made by Russell Ball. It is exceptional – the quality is exceptional. It is made from Camphor Laurel.

These pens are such a good idea – being of immediate practical use and looking so good. My team have been delighted with the support we have received from people like you; although the mail system can be laborious into the heart of Africa at times, particularly after everything pretty much shut down during the pandemic, it has been so good to get these packages!

I have really enjoyed the work here – it is busy, but working with so many professional military officers from around the globe has been brilliant. In fact, I only have 15 x Australians in my “Australian Team” but from a United Nations perspective, I have 30 in the team from 23 x countries. We do get out a fair bit and it is good to see the country although it can be heartbreaking….they are definitely doing it tough here.

Anyway, I had better get some dinner on. The football world cup has started which will be a welcome distraction.

Thank you again for your thoughts and a fantastic pen!

A lovely email just received for Bob Kettle

    UNOFFICIAL

    Good evening,

My name is Squadron Leader Matt xxx and I am the Executive Officer at the Air Force Recruit Training Unit. I hope this finds you well.

This week I was fortunate enough to receive one of your pens as I was supporting the Royal Commission into Defence & Veteran Suicide. The pen was made by Bob Kettle from Grumpy Grandpa’s and is a wonderful acrylic pen that will be put to very good use.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Bob and the team for their support. We are proud to serve our great nation and it’s moments like these that are truly inspiring.

Wishing you all the very best for the future and thank you again.

    Kind regards,

    Matt xxx Squadron Leader

    To Mr Russell Ball:

    Russell,

I recently attended the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide as an Observer where I was presented with a beautiful turned wood pen that was created by you.

A lovely email Peter Lucas has received. Redacted as required

    Good morning Peter,

I would like to say thank you for the absolutely amazing job that you did on the pen.

I am assuming the role of Senior Enlisted Advisor in the Middle East based at AMAB, I have served for 23 plus years. I am a Mine Warfare Sailor based out of Sydney. Serving on Minehunter Coastal (MHC) with over 12 years at sea.

I am excited to show my father on my return to Australia.

Again, thank you very much for what you did for me, but more importantly the contribution that you make to the Sailors, Soldiers and Aviators of those personnel deployed. It most certainly does not go unnoticed and it is appreciated more than you may realise.

If I can ever assist you in anyway please let me know.

    Kind regards.

    Warrant Officer XXX
