Me. I think it generates enough traffic & interest to be a top-level subforum of Wooden Boats in its own right.
Actually, I thought I also posted a suggestion to elevate it to the same level, but it seems to have gone AWOL...

Hello Wendy, a penny for your thoughts. Is it fair that we have to put up with rehashed ebay ads? When I dip into boat building and repair , that's what I assume will come onto the screen, unfortunately that doesn't seem to happen, we have ads and more ads ad nauseum on the screen. I hope you can rectify this with minimum pain.
Now you might want to edit this next bit, but the forum "old classic boat rescue and adoption" is so wet it almost makes an aussie cringe, what's wrong with "Classic Wooden Boat Rescue And Restoration" Hip hip hoorah!

I guess I should respond to that as I put a lot of the boats on the sub-forum. I don't have any exclusive right to do so, I just seem to find a lot as part of my nautical day-dreaming.

In order for a boat to be available for rescue or adoption, the person who presently owns it has to want to get rid of it

Although this may mean that the boat has been abandoned on the beach, a field, anywhere, these are pretty rare (only a few have appeared on this site) and I don't have a secret source of them. Mostly the owner wants some money for them, in some cases only a few dollars. Ebay tends to be the place where they appear. I have posted boats from other sites, such as boatpoint, trading post, etc, but these usually list a high price from which a buyer can negotiate down. Ebay, being an auction site, starts from the bottom up, and many boats go for a song.

I've tried to be really selective, in choosing boats that are:
    1. Timber (of course)
    2. Cheap
    3. In need of repair
    4. Preferably a classic design

If you look at the banner above the Boat Building/Repairing forum advertising the Rescue and Adoption subforum, this is what the moderators suggest is posted, and I've tried to stick with it.

I would love the boats I find to be picked up by forum members, then lovingly restored, with all the details posted on the forum. That takes time though, and is for others to do. It sometimes confuses me that what I think is a really interesting boat provokes no comment at all. Other times a posting takes on a life of it's own, and I'm in awe of the knowledge imparted by members.

If you're not happy with these postings, let me know and I won't post any more.
The other obvious alternative is: don't look at them.

OK....a bit of Pax Vobiscum here.
This is an excellent forum section......and deserves to be here ...doing what it does.
It'll be fixed so that those that don't want to see it don't have to.
Give us a little time.....there are lots of things to do behind the scenes to make this happen.
    So...no knickers in a knot.........it'll happen.
    Patience Please.

Pax Vobiscum = peace be with you. Not a great blessing when your adversary is only likely to hear "blah blah blah scum"
