Wanted-old wooden rowing shells & oars
Well, that's on a par with some of the odd stuff on this Board !
I'm after old rowing shells
sculls pair/doubles pairs, fours, even a sectioned eight
Boats by Jeff Sykes, S&B or the late S&B Melbas and any wooden Macon style oars
to buy or re-home with a couple of old rowers who like to get these lovely old ladies back on the water
Most of the older boats that we have seen and the couple we have fixed up have taken a lot of work to make them row-able again - Between the stripping, replacement of rotten material, sourcing of new replacement wood and veneers, removal of crystalised old epoxy glues and the patching work, they take hundreds of hours each and are simply labours of love, not economic profit making ventures, so before you dump it or your club burns another, PLEASE think of re-homing -
CALL David on 07 3236 5444 during business hours ( Kindly note - Qld is still a non-daylight saving state )
