Now that I have lifted the map drawers up and placed them under a bench this makes room underneath them for storage.

There are 3 drawers made from MDF with large pine handles, on 2.5" diam HDPE wheels.

I will eventually transfer all my non- wood small stock/scrap to these drawers, steel, ally, brass/copper, plastic etc but just for the moment I'm using them for small pieces of timber.

Here you can see the third one under construction.

    Here are two tucked away.

The thing that took up the time with these were the wheels, they are inset inside the drawers and poke thru underneath by just 10 mm.

Well this is not exactly "fit-out" but more like "strip-out". I'm emptying out the old part of the shed to relay the floor and then eventually insulate and line the internals.

I spent almost all of this weekend taking stuff out the old part of the shed. It's hard to believe how long it takes. I haven't been game to throw away as much stuff as I thought so I have been running around like a headless chook looking for places to permanently or temporarily store stuff while the floor gets ripped up and a new one goes in.

It doesn't look like much has happened but the end cupboards are all empty and the 3 storage cupboards are on the back patio. Look see, there's bare walls showing through all the junk.

The bench also has to go onto the back patio and the TS gets a temp berth in the new part of the shed.

I hope to be ripping up concrete next weekend.

Hope the exsting floor is sufficiently deteriorated to allow it to be "ripped up" with relative ease. Maybe a good time to have mates around to watch cricket/tennis or some other pretext, while in fact they will be watching you; maybe consciences or sympathy will lend a hand??

The floor has big crack running lengthwise down the middle which should help as a starting point and I will get my nephew around to help.

    Thumbs up

Been following this from the sidelines Bob. You sure have done some marvelous arranging of the shed.

Like your dusty setup and the clever uses of space, such as the wheeled drawers under the map cabinet.

You will have your own woodies heaven when it's all finished.

    Keep up the good work!

Ps. When do you actually work or sleep??

It's just about all I do outside of work hours. I gave up watching TV in 2006 and SWMBO is always off with her horse and I rarely go out (and when I do I resent it taking me away from the shed) except to see my mum for a couple of hours every other weekend.

The dumpster arrived early and I just had enough floor space cleared to have a crack at the old shed floor with the sledge hammer.

The concrete floor is not dead rotten but couple of whacks with the 3.6 kg hammer is enough to crack of 5-10 kg pieces, Fortunately there is no steel mesh reinforcing! This is good because it means I wont need to use a jackhammer or demosaw which would create a lot of dust. I worked out there are ~25 barrow loads of concrete to cart. T'will indeed be a nice workout and will test the nephew to see if he can do better than his old uncle!

Cheers Artme and Wheelin. Yeah finally my health issues are under more or less under control and the pace can pick up a bit.

There won't be much delegation, there will be some banter, cajoling, name calling and even then my guess is the nephew will cart less than his fair share. When we shifted the 8 m^3 of sand for the shed foundation I reckon he shifted about 3 m^3 and I did 5, although he did cart the majority of the 72 kg limestone blocks. But that was down slope whereas the concrete has to be carted upslope.

Esteemed nephew obviously follows the maxim of wearing out the old ones first. Not quite how it should be, but good that he is on call and does come and help. Shed is looking good.

Cheers Paul. The sad thing is my nephew thinks he is fit but he is no where near as fit as when I was his age. Anyway, as the saying goes, the older we get the better we were

Instead of going for my 45 minute fitness walk, this morning I decided to have a date with the shed floor and my 3.6 kg sledge hammer. Working at moderate pace (ie light huffing and puffing) for about an hour I was able to break up and put ~15% of the floor into the dumpster. Most of the time is spent picking up the crumbly bits that break up from the big lumps.

There seems to be a bit of trick to striking the concrete so it breaks up in discrete lumps as opposed to just crumbles. I'm getting better at placing the blows so I should get more efficient as I go.
