Why wouldn't they just go to the BCC to get it? With the way privacy laws are used by business now days so they don't have to tell you anything, I don't see any reason why you can't do the same.

BCC only has the approval for the siting variation (relaxation). The shed approval is via a private certifier as its a self assess-able development (as I understand it). I rang BCC and they said I dont have to supply them with anything other than the neighbour hood statement when applying for the relaxation of the boundary rules, and if the neighbour had a complaint I can direct them to call the BCC.

Anyway, I knew these (pxxxx) persons would be trouble, hence the reason I got the site surveyed. I am doing everything within the rules.

    Pearo,

You have no obligation to supply that approval. It is a private transaction between yourself & the certifier.......but I thought that the building certifier would have to lodge a copy of the approval to BCC so direct them back to Council. They probably don't want to pay a search fee or take the time.....Stuff em.

Thought I should update this thread (my shed build update will follow). Been in this house 3 years this month.

The estate that was opposing my build has sold without developing. I am not stupid, I know the area and I know real estate which is the only reason I own a house in this area. The estate opposing my shed sold for a significant amount to a private buyer. It is well above what its worth, and is more than any developer would ever pay. But, the new people that have moved in are fantastic and we get along well and they just want a place to live and not develop!

The neighbors on the other side also sold and the new owners are good people as well.

So here is me, stuck in the middle of 2 expensive estates with my little house and shed! I am several leagues below my neighbors. I bought this place and renovated it with my own hands, but I am happy as hell! I still have a lot of work to do to finish things up, but I will get there in the end!

The true wealth of a house is when its called a "home" and its value is in the people living in it

REALTY 101 ..... "Own the worst house in the best street".

You have the house that you want plus the shed that you want, and the neighbours macmansions will push up the value of your property if you ever want to sell. Life's good.
