Haha yeah no one here to complain luckily!
Badge removed. Probably going to try getting another one made or ask Vicmarc if they have old ones laying around.

Gave everything else a quick bath and it looks like grease was hiding some damage to the headstock. Less than impressed about this discovery however I don't think it will impact the operation of the lathe itself. Looks like a previous owner tried removing the keyed shaft without lining up the key way [emoji20]

Haaa soo Japanese screwdriver has been at work again.
Actually got a fair bit of work done last night, have got the tool rest completely rust free and covered in 3-in-1 oil while I track down some paint. Going to try and get to Bunnings tonight to see what they've got, will post some pics of the tool rest later.
Bit of work on the hinged motor mount for the Woodfast. Still need to mount it to the bottom shelf but that's work for another day, this took me way too long today.

Not pretty but it seems like it should do the trick!
Tracked down some Hammerite paint for the Vicmarc after seeing another forum users excellent results. Fingers crossed it's a good match, the paint on the lathe was quite faded so it's hard to tell what the original colour was. Just going off a small painted section under the tool rest that seemed much darker than the rest of the machine.
First time I've bought a paint brush that cost more than $5, huge difference haha

Tool rest is all cleaned up and masked off for paint. Actually seems a lot quicker concentrating on one assembly at a time, I've been able to chip away at little bits during the week instead of having huge jobs dedicated to weekends only.

Will hopefully get a coat of paint down tomorrow arvo, forgot to buy thinners to clean the brush so I need to go back to Bunnings.
Went to order one of the newer round bar tool rests this morning, turns out either they've changed the size or I have an aftermarket tool rest. The shaft on mine measures 22mm and from what I can tell they only sell 1" and 30mm versions now. Emailed Vicmarc, waiting to see what they say.
Lots of detail supplied here and that should be useful for some other forumites.
Vicmarc still uses non sealed bearings. They must be OK as i have not heard any complaints about them.
Gahhh. Just went to lay down first coat of paint on the tool rest and opened the paint to find it had set rock solid. Luckily the place is just around the corner from home, will just have to get it changed over tomorrow.
