Cheers guys 😊
It's my stress reliever, I don't even have a proper workshop at the moment but I figure when I do I'll have all the stuff I need ready to go.

Last coat of paint on the bed! Would have been done sooner but I dropped the thing when I was flipping it over and it scratched the hell out of the bottom.

So the bulk of the work is done now! I want to repaint the motor mount as well but it's at my parents place out bush so I'll have to grab it when I drop off the lathe in the next couple of weeks. Was hoping to have it done for Christmas but found out I might not have a job in the new year so going to have to put a hold on any new purchases for now [emoji30]
So close too, only needed to get some turning tools and a chuck! Might see if I can convince the old man into buying them, he'll probably use this more than me anyway 😊
that's looking real good
good luck in the job hunt
:whs:
What they said.

Working from home today, got everyone outside getting some sun to speed up the drying process. Hammerite definitely takes a bit longer to set than other paints from personal experience but once it's set it is very tough stuff.

Bought replacement nuts and bolts over the weekend too so it's all coming together.
Moving day!

I've spent the morning getting all the screw plugs and masking tape off, just giving it a wipe down with some goo remover to get rid of any gum from the tape. Then the whole lot is getting wrapped in blankets and popped on the ute for the drive out bush! More pics to come later today 😃
Okay so it's all assembled at my parents place, only managed to grab one photo as I was knackered and the direct sun wasnt doing me any favours either. Will be back up there in a few weeks to fit the motor and badge though so will take more then. Enough talking, here's the before and after!

It picked up a few battle scars on the way there but nothing too troublesome. Very happy with it overall, the tailstock and tool rest both lock down to the bed rock solid.
No rest for the wicked! Brought the dust collector guts back to my place so I can make some mods, started by trimming the 3 x 4" inlets off to allow a 6" diameter opening. This will just be temporary until I can make up some 6" bell mouth inlets, need to order the router bit from China cos it's a big'un and I can't find any in Australia that aren't super expensive.

Will be adding castors as well, it's a mongrel to move without them. Aaand I went to pick up some new filter and waste bags. Lots to be done!
Lack of skills and turning tools at this point Bob 😊
I really want to visit the local turning club before I get started too, I've never used a lathe in my life and I know how dangerous they can be.
Also next week I'll be making up a former to make 6" BMHs out of PVC ducting which means I will be able to knock them out pretty quickly.
That's a very generous offer Bob, I'd love to take you up on that.
Cracking on with the VL200 motor bracket. Not spending a ton of time on this, when I upgrade to a VFD in the future I want to move the motor so it's under the headstock like the current models. Got it mostly paint and rust free so will be taping off this evening and aiming to get first coat of paint down tomorrow.
