I see Bueller posted the same supplier, but my experience is they are slightly cheaper if you go direct rather than through Ebay.

How long do you find these last? I have used a wire wheel in yhe past - with good results but the don't last too long.
Any experience how these compare?

They seem to hold up pretty well from my experiences, the paint on this jointer is really thick and to get through the cabinet, belt cover and base only went through one disc.

The strip discs last well, but I have no direct comparison between them and flap discs. The main difference is that they do not remove metal. I used one to completely clean the paint from the bonnet of a car back to bare metal. It did that with quite a bit left on the disc.

Another great reason for purchasing from Smith and Arrow directly is that you can use a forum discount to get 20% off.

Productive day! Wanted to knock off the lathe once and for all so I could focus all my energy on the jointer. Fitted the motor, switch box and badge and it's now running nicely. Needs a bit of fine tuning to eliminate noise at higher RPMs but thats a task for another day.
Also spent a bit of time working on modifying the inlet of my dust collector. Drilled out the spot welds holding the 8" inlet and then used the same holes to fasten the new 6" bell mouth inlet. Will caulk up the minor gaps another day but it should do the job. Countersunk the screws in order to clear the impeller too, space is quite tight inside the collector housing.

Thanks so much Dave! Was a tiring day with the heat but I'm on the couch with a cup of tea now and feeling quite accomplished 😊
Should have more pics coming later this weekend, I'm going to crack on with the jointer cabinet dust chute tomorrow. Just need to cut up an old chest freezer I have for some donor sheet metal.

Bueller
If I am not too late, just bear in mind that old chest freezers form an excellent basis for a small solar kiln. Just place a skillion roof with a floor on top of the chest freezer with the lid removed. The roof is not really a roof but some polythene. I would cut up some other more useless piece of whitegoods for your source of sheet metal.

Cheers for the info mate, I'll keep that in mind for future! Unfortunately that old chest freezer is destined for death, it's been sitting out the back of my place for a year and my landlord has made it pretty clear it needs to be gone. Damn witch!
