Oh no. The 14" model of my Woodfast bandsaw just popped up on Gumtree.
Must be strong. One project at a time!

Just saw that, think he is asking too much for it.
Same as mine but in better condition )

Yeah if it was cheaper I'd be all over it but pricey for me right now. Bit silly having a 10" and 14" anyway, I think I'd rather hold off and get an 18" to supplement instead.

Well I'm a happy man, seems my over the top preparation was worth the time. Finished the bulk of the bending work last night and just put the finishing touches on everything a minute ago. Amazed at how well the chute fits, if I can keep the temperatures down when welding it should come together nicely. Good times 😊

If it was me I would bolt that chute into place - or if you really want to weld it just 3 spots on each side.
It doesn't need to be air tight but if you wanted to you could add sealant in place.

I've talked myself out of the bandsaw, still need a table saw and thicknesser before I start looking at getting a larger one. Actually been really tempted by the Carbatec sale on their old style machinery, the 15" thicknesser is really well priced. But probably going to wait till I finish the jointer and keep saving in the meantime, still got just over a grand to spend on the vfd and helical cutter so don't want to go crazy.

I've actually been thinking about doing that, I finally invested in a pop rivet gun a few weeks ago.
Decided to finish the chute next weekend anyway so I've got time to decide, I'm going to paint the inside of the cabinet first because it's a nightmare reaching in there when it's in place. Will force me to get a jump on painting other parts too, most of the machine has been ready for painting for weeks.

that's another advantage of bolting/rivetting etc over welding. You can paint it before assembly so you can get at the nooks and crannies.

My instinct would be to epoxy in in place with Araldite, Devcon, J-B Weld, Scotch Weld or equivalent. More than strong enough and no rivet heads on the outside to mar the smooth cabinet.

Now that I've got the chute sorted I figured I'd work out attaching the BMH. The original opening was slightly too short to fit the hood in so I've opened it up 30mm and it fits inside now. Will cut another piece of metal to mount the hood to and make it removable.

The BMH will paint up really nicely so think about painting it as well.

Yeah that's on my list too, some forum posts led me to believe Hammerite clings quite nicely to pvc so I'm going to give it a crack.
