You can't ever have too many benches or too many shelves. You are off to a good start, there. I recommend making one part of it extremely bash-worthy and decorated with 16" of railroad track. It is inevitable.
I made the top of my main bench from 2 x 6, a thoughtless thing to do = rain of sawdust down below. Eventually had to caulk all the cracks with silicone.

Installed some pegboard, beefed up the bench and added a new rolling tool cart...a pretty productive weekend. A Caps win over the Rangers would have made it a little nicer though!
