I knew it wouldn't last .........bowing to a higher power...............then again the shed needs an income
I was going to say time we saw some real testing of the system but all good things come to those who have the best suction system. At least you are getting shed time

....is it tomorrow already?
After pulling apart the jigsaw puzzle that is my duct layout, I predictably had trouble getting it all back together again!
The design changed slightly as I struggled and I ended up with a short length of 150mm PVC pipe on both sides of the blast gate.
However it is all back together and, on both main runs, I now have 150mm diameter PVC or flex from the impellor face all of the way to the splitter boxes on the ends of the lines where I transfer to 2 X 100mm for attachment to the machinery.

I took the the opportunity to shorten the amount of flex in the 'hinge'.....

.... and put a 45deg elbow at the blast gate rather than the previous immediate bend in the flexible that I had with the 125 mm arrangement. The flow test showed that I achieved a further 12% gain in flow which means that, on a like-with-like test basis, I now have a 2.5 to 3 fold increase in flow from my original set up while still using the same 2hp DC. I doubt I can now can get any more significant improvements until I bite the bullet and buy a new DC?
My self imposed ban on woodworking until I had got the DE system finished, is now officially lifted and, tomorrow, I can start wood working again.
I guess that also means that the shed BUILD is now finished and therefore should be the end of this thread. I've had a lot of fun, I have slept the tired sleep of someone who has done a lot of hard but enjoyable work, I had a terrific run with tradies and have greatly appreciated and enjoyed the assistance of many mates from the forum, notably Tony, Brett, Andy, Paul, Chris and Bob. The major initiation rite and shed warming was the G2G but there's nothing that quite matches the satisfaction of the quiet beer at the end of the day sitting on the verandah and watching the day slowly end. I am a lucky man.

..... but, from now on, I WILL turn on the DC and it WILL take the dust away and I won't know IF I've made any?
I have a backlog of commissions, requests, love jobs and wannado's to get on with including a marble topped wine dresser for which I've had the marble top for a few years now. I can't wait to get started!

Shed Build Finished?
"Shed Build Finished?"
Sorry but I don't comprehend.
Congratulations Allan, you shed looks great and I am sure you are enjoying the quiet hum of power tools and the purring tablesaw in a more spacious dust free workshop.
Thanks for the useful tips you have provided along the way too.
I wish I knew about foam cutting blades for a jigsaw when I was trying to cut foam for chess pieces.
Enjoy those cold afternoon beers.Scally

Thanks Scally,
I think everyone knows that a shed is never REALLY finished, there are always things to finish or change. I will enjoy the logistics of deciding on, and trialling, new storage solutions but I figure that doubling the space and (nearly) trebling the DC flow is as good a time as any to stop talking about woodwork and get back into it?
Likewise, thank you for your ideas and inspiration, you can expect a new 'Scally MFT' to appear here in the near future!

Playing inside a finished shed is good fun.
You are welcome to my MFT template or pippin88 said he is happy to custom make more.
I am very impressed with your DC system and will study it closer when I am ready to set mine up properly. I have a 3HP 3 phase DC but need to pay for 3 phase to the house first. Bugger.Scally
