The ones I remember had quite a nice brass handle shaped like a flattened circle, with finger indents on the inside of the ring.

I guess that's the main reason why I have only made the 1 prototype so far? I thought of completely coating the MDF components or just the edges but have left it au naturale to see how it goes ...... if it ever rains here again. I like BobL's idea of plastic sheet of some sort especially as the 'plastic' flange provides most of the rigidity anyway?

If PVC sheet is used then no flange is needed as it will stick direct to PVC ducting using PVC cement.
I did "add" some strength by adding a ring of 150 mm PVC duct to the join - it has a small gap in it but that doesn't seem to matter.
    Ducting update.-pvcrocker-jpg
The downside is the cost of the PVC sheet.

I got mine through Pipeonline but it was a special order and I think they were $9 each.
Hey I just realised the flanges could be made just like the BMHs I'm making - stay tuned.

Default The (R)evolution continues, long live the (R)evolution

The World is returning to normal, SWSBO has returned to work, the social whirl is slowing but the simple 'shed-tidy-up-before-starting-the-next-project' chore has got a bit out of hand?
The annual bench clean, dress and re-oil is done.....

Most of the drawers and contents have been dusted and cleaned.....

The new layout allows me to get the sharpening station into better light.....

.... and my new found happiness with the ProEdge has seen it replace the Millers Falls horizontal wet grinder which is going to a new home and all of my T shirts with the horizontal muddy brown stripe are going into the bin!

The next step is to clean right through the shed, empty and clean all of the vacuum cleaners/dust collectors...... and do some WOOD WORK

Thanks goodness they will not be coming along with the wet grinder not sure my courier could stand the odour.

Rags Alan you might just need them to mop up blood, spilt beer or red wine or drool for new tools LOL

Like the prep for the year ahead I give it a week

I still envy that grinder top .

One of the first jobs in my job queue needs my trusty old, ALL AUSTRALIAN Wasp sander. The problem is that it is a champion dust generator. While I had space to work and my DC spare parts laying around, I decided to do something about it. I challenged myself to use only what I had..... and this is the outcome,

    image.jpg image.jpg

I havent (yet) cut a fitted base for the vertical manifold but a trial with a piece of plywood taped on was very encouraging. The manifold is mounted on a hinge which allows it to rotate around the Wasp's bobbin to to give me access to both the face and the radius. The fitting on the top is a dustright connector and I simply plug it into any convenient line when I need it.

If so, do you know where please?
    Thank you, Cheers, Peter

Fortunately the subject matter can be considered timeless. I thought I might do another one every ten years. It is as close as I can get to arresting the ageing process (cut down on the number of birthdays). Your calendar was one of a limited production run (three).

    Regards
    Paul

PS: I have the same problem .

OK, thank you Paul. I'll graft a new calendar on to the 'old' picture pages and try to forget them until the month comes around again?
I don't think I can forget Miss July though .....

Not much shed work today but, none the less, I've decided to take my calendar disappointment on the chin. So Paul, while I'm re-calendaring your 'pin-ups', I've decided to make another one just for Crowie?
I took the following pictures at Camden's Oz Day parade. The problem is that there's only 12 months and I've got many more Holden pictures than that............

PS, it seems all of the Fords broke down in the marshalling area?

I realise you want to use only what you have on hand but for anyone else doing this sort of thing in other situations, those holes in the side of the duct will significantly restrict air flow
A simple relatively low cost solution would be to use a short radius stormwater 90º bend on the end of the 6" pipe.

Adding 6" BMH to the 90º bend would be even would be the next step.
It's as effective as a naked open duct (and much more effective that holes in the side of the duct) but at twice the distance, so it does not get in the way and the manifold would not need to be rotated.
    Something like this
