Thanks Chris. I hadn't read this before and yes, it is very concerning that it isn't perceived as a bug and hence is not getting any attention! I can assure any vBulletin boffins that it has only happened (to me) with pics taken on my iPhone, that it is correctly oriented in all pre posted views including ADVANCED PREVIEW, but rotates during the process of posting. As I noted earlier, I took a picture and, within my iPad, I rotated it to all 4 90 deg orientations. When posted (and quickly deleted) ALL 4 pictures had resulted in posted images that demonstrated a 90 degree CCW rotation. That clearly is an INCONSISTENT event and hence a BUG?
I will continue to post as I am (capture on iPhone, cloud/wifi/email to my iPad, reduce in 'Batchresizer2', post from iPad) but with an occasional apology to those who are getting cricked necks in reading my posts. BTW, aren't they the same experts who lost so many of our pre2103 pictures?

I don't seem to have any problems posting from my iPad with photos taken by my iPhone AS LONG as the phone is held in "landscape mode" with the two side volume buttons on the bottom LHS when taking a photo. If the iPhone is held vertical, then the photos, that appear to be correct on my iPhone, iPad and windows computer, have to be rotated 90 degrees clockwise on my windows computer, saved, then rotated 90 degrees anti clockwise and saved. I know it sounds crazy, but it works.

You'll be right mate, the sign only applies for entry into the DC closet AND it definitely doesn't apply to you anyway! There's a little downstairs ensuite apartment just waiting for you/you 2 to come and stay?

It's been a great weekend in the shed.......

Firstly, NC Archer connected my VFD and 3HP dust collector.

    VFD install summaries

I now have a dust collector system that seems to do what I need. When something goes missing, I now know to check in the DC bag. So far, in 2 days, it has scavenged a pair of safety glasses and a cabinet handle! For those who don't want to read the whole journey above, a VFD has enabled me to buy a second hand 3 phase 3HP dust collector, modify it to suit my needs and install it on my single phase network. The VFD has also enabled me to use a standard 10 amp power point.

    image.jpeg image.jpeg

The pictures above show my VFD set up and the 3 HP dust collector drawing only 2.8 amps when running at 50Hz after drawing only 5.2 amps on start up. It's efficient, quiet and its concept and installation was a very satisfying project.

Many thanks to Tony for his help and unstinting support.

Secondly, autumn leaves are very popular around here and I was INSTRUCTED to NOT clean up this weekend........

    image.jpeg

Third was the completion of a current commission, 2 very large but shallow cabinets which are complete except for the single piece glass doors which are on order but.......

    image.jpeg image.jpeg

The job came via a fellow forumite........

Many thanks for the heads up Dave!

EDIT! and fourthly, none of my pictures rotated!

Many thanks to Christos and/or the boffins?

So, what will the new week bring for the shed............. ?

Certainly looks like a successful weekend - I spy with my little eye - .

Thanks for the updates on the VFD install.

Is that 2.8A with the gates open or closed?

I'm wondering what current the Powtran is actually displaying?
2.8A sounds too low even when a 1.73 factor is a applied for 3 phase power.
This would make a total current of 4.8A which is on the low side even if all all the gates were closed.
The sorts of total currents I'm familiar with are for a 3HP DC are 6 - 7A with the gates closed and 9+A when everything is fully open.

I've been playing around with the Powtran on my bench free running a 3HP motor and on mine the opposite seems to be happening.

@ 60Hz the Powtran shows 3.2A, but the input mains panel meter reads 1.2A and a Fluke Clamp meter on the input reads 1.65 A?
    @ 50Hz it show 4.4 A , panel shows 1.4 and the Fluke shows 1.9A
@40 Hz it shows 4.4 A, panel shows 1.2 and Fluke shows 1.6A

This is not the first time I've seen these sorts of mismatches between VFD and meter readings.

Bob, from (addled) memory, one of the 3 150mm feeders was open and a 'sweeper' partly open at the end of a second? Tomorrow, I'll record the run currents across a few different gating combinations.

After wading through the challenges of getting through to talk to the ATO this morning, I finally got some therapy time in the shed. Re the start and run currents for MY DC installation, the Powtran read outs are as follows but please note that the display changes so rapidly on start up that registering the maximum is also a bit of a challenge!

    VFD set on 50 Hz
gate status/max start up current/run current
    ALL OPEN/5.3A/3.69A
    ALL CLOSED/4.2A/2.32A

I haven't yet installed a muffled exhaust from the acoustic closet so I also checked for any back pressure issues by checking cfm at a convenient inlet with the closet door closed and open AND repeated the load tests above with the door open

    VFD set on 50Hz
gate status/ Max startup current with door closed (with door open)/run current with door closed(open)
    ALL OPEN/5.3A(5.3A)/3.69A(3.65A)
    ALL CLOSED/4.2A(3.9A)/2.32A(2.29A)

    AIRFLOW AT DATUM GATE
    Door closed 867cfm
    Door open 870cfm

Interestingly, this is indicating to me that there is currently no significant back pressure issue and I'm going to put the muffled exhaust on hold for a while. As the DC closet has 2 external walls, a third wall shared with the shed but via acoustic batts and an unbroken colorbond sheet, I will check for any air leaks into the shed on the fourth wall and seal them before shelving the muffled exhaust completely.

Now that the excitement of the gtg and returning LOST AND FOUND has subsided it is back to more mundane working in the shed. I'm helping a mate make a table using 25mm thick veneered plywood which will require edging !
Conveniently, after the SWWWS, l bought my bucket list items, that hadn't been for sale at the show, on line and these included JessEm Clear Cut stock guides and arouter cutter set for edging. Both arrived early this week and today is try-time.

    IMG_6198.JPG IMG_6199.JPG

The JessEm stock guides use wheels to hold the stock down, one-way bearings to prevent kick back AND the wheels are canted into the fence to hold the workpiece against the fence as it is fed past the router bit. My first impression is 'why on Earth didn't I get one before'!
It felt safer, seemed to reduce/remove chatter and so gave a much better finish.
My first trial edging on plywood is now clamped up so it's time to post ..... and make coffee!

I seen David Staton's review the JessEm. Seems good. Id like and option that allows withdrawing a piece. Simetimes I do part rips and need to pull the work back out.
