    Default French Cleat Storage

Made a start on a small French Cleat storage area over the electronics bench.
The old multimeters work perfectly but they are just for show. Thoroughly enjoyed making the holders for them today.
I'm trying for storage for things that I can unhook and use at the bench or elsewhere in the shed and then just hook them straight back onto the wall without having to take them out of their holder.
I've got an idea, for instance, for a hookup wire storage that I can just place it on the bench, roll off what I need then hook it back on the wall.

I'll add pictures as I make things, assuming they work or look half decent of course.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Spent a bit of time over the weekend making some more holders.
    Slowly freeing up bench space

    Glues.jpg

First one is my Bosch screw driver, various glues and an IPA dispenser

    Solder Tips.jpg

Next one is soldering iron tips and my close up glasses

    Magnifier.jpg

Last one is a head magnifier with the interchangeable lenses

I also bought myself one of these

Which made making the holders much quicker and easier.
Pretty happy with the nail gun so far.

The cleats are a very good idea. Where can I get some more wall space?

Additional wall space can be found under the junk you have piled on the bench.

All my plywood offcuts are saved to make cleats and holders.

Mobile wall cart? (or on side of existing carts/cupboards)

I think I need another brick in the wall (apologies to Pink Floyd).

Sneaked a few more in today. Technically I'm in New Zealand to attend the Spec Fiction World Convention in Wellington. Because of Covid the convention is now virtual so I am home in the shed

First one is my test lead rack. I needed to support the other end. I was just going to glue a block of the correct size on but I found this wooden thread in the scrap bin so now it's adjustable.

Next is a holder for the temperature meter. The thermocouples are in the rack.

I'll try and sneak a couple more in tomorrow.

Knocked up a few more. Every time I make a holder I see heaps of possibilities for tools and consumables but I'm trying to keep this just for stuff I use with electronics.

Still got a few things to go but it's been fun making all these.

You are very much at the practical stage. Once you pass one hundred ( storages, not years) it becomes labeled an "ob...ob...obsession."

Couple more holders on the french cleats.

First one is my usual multimeter
    Multimeter.jpg

Next is another multimeter that I use when I need to take more than one measurement at a time.
This multimeter is the same brand as the big antique one. Probably 60 or so years difference.
    AVO2.jpg

Last one is a couple of holders for enamelled wire (or magnet wire it is sometimes called) and high temperature Kapton tape.
    Kapton.jpg

Lastly, not a FC holder but I reclaimed some floor space by putting my timber onto a wall rack.
There's a bit more recycled timber but that's in the back of the car ready to be dressed tomorrow.
    WoodRack.jpg

Paul, I'll run out of room long before it becomes an obsession......unless I sell some stuff to free up more wall space.....or work out how to keep things from falling off if I put cleats on the ceiling.......or maybe I could..........never mind that. It's not an obsession.

I’ve always been a peg board man,
But lately I’m thinking I’mmmm I like this Cleat idea more.
Thanks for the inspiration NC Archer.

    Cheers Matt

Do it Matt. I really like it. When I started this I ripped some pine down the middle at 45°. Half went on the wall and rest is being used for the other half of the cleat. I still have quite a bit of the movable cleat stock. I considered, only for a minute, making a french cleat holder to store the extra cleat material on the cleat wall. That's not obsessive is it?
