Electrician came this afternoon and it seems it shouldn’t be an issue getting 500lm for the entire shed using 24 down lights. Will probably section the lights into 3 circuits for the workshop and one for the car port.

I went with battens when building my shop. I have 16, 4,000 lumen, 6,000K lights in 635 square foot (59 square meter) area so I am at the 1,000 lumens mark. They are on two circuits but could have been wired with dimmers if not daisy chained like I have. I bought direct from China three years ago and haven't had any problems with them. I like them a lot and would hate to have to have less now.

I reckon it's better for the sparky to instal plain 3 pin outlets, switched in banks at a user accessible level rather than actual lights - that way you can easily rearrange lighting as you change your shed layout, and more importantly in 5-10 years time as lighting tech improves AND your eyes need more light you can easily swap out your old lights for brighter more efficient lights. This system is not suited to down lights but is highly suited to battens.
Sparkies don't like this because you may then not buy the lights themselves through them.
The other excuse one sparky gave is rather lame and that was they have to sign off on the safety of the lighting circuit.
However, the LED battens use so little power, many battens can be attached per outlet.
When I built my shed the sparky installed 6 such outlets installed and then I added twin LED battens per outlet (theoretically 24 klux) and then I added twin battens above my MW lathe, WW lathe, 2 Main Workbenches and grinder stand (another theoretical 20 klux).
That all worked out to an average of ~1 klux per sqm
BUT
Actual measurements with a lux meter at bench or machine level are MUCH less than theoretical
So then my MW mill, lathes, and main workbenches have their own LED spots.

A few things to think about there.
I might try getting more lighting around the perimeter of the workshop to increase the lighting there where most benches/machines will be and maybe add a few wall lights as well.
The layout of the shed with the windows and roller doors seems pretty good for allowing natural light to enter. Currently with no lights i would be happy to work in there during the day time. I will be painting the ceiling/walls white as well to keep things bright.

Wiring is roughed in. We left some excess wire so a few more lights can be added above certain areas if need. But otherwise stuck with the 24 down lights as planned.
There is 4 x 20A single GPO, 4 x 15A GPO and 12 x 10A double GPO. The 20 and 15A GPO’s are all on individual circuits and the 10A GPO’s are split into 2 circuits. Probably a little overkill for the size of the shed, but why not.

Putting some acoustic insulation in the walls. Not sure if it will do much but would be better than nothing.

Riveted a few left over bits of stud backed with 70x35 timber to one corner before its sheeted in anticipation for a cyclone blower (hopefully a clearvue). This should allow mounting the blower as flush to the wall as possible.

Not really sure how where the motor/blower would mount as there could possibly be a clash with the roller door drum. But should be able to a make something work when the time comes.
There is also a 20A and 15A outlet in that corner. The wires above are a 10A outlet intended for a roller door motor.
Have been busy sheeting, the walls and ceiling are now done. Still have to finish setting the joints. The FC sheeting was a real pain to fix using screws. I found it difficult to get the screw heads to counter sink flush without first counter sinking with a masonry drill.

Also decided to get polyurethane floor. Meant to be poured next week but there is rain forecast.

Well second coat of poly went on but it hasn’t adhered properly, the the whole lot will be ground off and redone once hard in a few weeks.
Apparently the supplier has just changed the product and this was the first job since.
Anyway plus side is I won’t need to worry about drop sheets when painting the interior...
Doesn’t that give you the s%$’# Alex when that happens. Hopefully next time you will get the finish your after.
