Jonz workshop
When we bought our house here we were looking for a place where I could have a decient w/shop and we found one!! My w/shop started out as a double car port. 3 walls, part of the front, a small part and solid build. I ordered a set of double doors and 4 windows all in hardwood. When they arrived I taught myself how to build a small wall with terra cotte airtex type French bricks.
When you buy any doors here you get the frame as well, even if it's a replacement door and you don't want the frame! So the frame went in and after I had one course of bricks in place I decided that as our trailer won't come out of the door and I'd forgotten it was in there I had better get the dammed thing out! So the wall was done and the windows fitted.
I insulated the roof with the silver multi layers stuff they use in Alpine homes and it's good stuff, stapled and batterned into place. All the stuff was brought over from the house and put where I wanted it and some cupboards were fitted using some very tall single fold doors taken from the laundry room. Now I have a w/shop that suits me fine. About 7 X 5 meters and 4 1/2 meters high at the ridge.
Loads of light for the lathe
A Jet filter unit hung from the beams and my Startrite 301S by the back wall. It can be moved if I have anything very long to cut
A big work bench in the middle
And a very happy bloke when I get in there!!My ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.

Don't like it (not). You can see to much of the walls Heaps of storage room to fill out there. Nice shop.
Question. What is the yellow machine in the 3rd photo? I presume it is a drill but have not seen anything like this before.

There is some storage space on the walls to fill. It's a good to feeling when you are able to build something in a dedicated space.

i thought I'd replied to you Crowie?? No mez, the roof is ridgid left to right, but there is room for some small long bits on the filter. Strong enough because it's hung on chains.
The wingows do open inwards VK, just like all French windows apart from sliding ones . The only outward opening ones you'll find are on ex-pat British renovated houses. As and when they need repair there will be problems because the French are not geared up to making them. I inquired when I ordered them for my workshop and all I got was an "are you mad" look.. It still gets to over 30 in the summer, but I have a pedestal fan in there and a small fan heater for the winter. If it gets to those extremes I tend to stay in the house though. It's only a blasted hobby after all
You are welcome TD. Nice to have something like that to share! I have to admit that I had a very long wait to get it..
Christos, it was a hell of a shock to think that I nearly walled my trailer inside! Once the wall was up the only way to get the thing out would have been to knock said wall down againMy ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.

It would have been a dismantle job mate and as it's all very well galvanised it would have been fun gluing it back together together again! Still, it was spotted just in time!
