    Default OldGrains Shed

Elsewhere you`ll see machinery that resides outside the shed but here`s the inside:

The bench was determined by the size of the assembled 4 top pieces which are roughly 4`11" x 1". One side on each piece was already angle cut so they were simply butted up &/or reversed to form corner return. This piece is slightly narrower at 25 1/2" D so the adjoining point was cut & butted up to it. Frames being 4" x 2".
    Overall the length being shy of 12`L & 2`5" D x 3`4" H.

Cripes. How many knockometers does one bloke need? (last pic)

Nicely organised with a bit of room to swing cats about...I'm jealous

Gordon you win more tool boxes than I have LOL.

Hammers are an integral part of working on bodies and motor vehicles of all sorts which I know Gordan has done I don't have quite so many but I'd say close.

Thanks RSG,Ray & other members.Been in the sheety game many years - built & installed all the louvres in/out on the original Westmead Hospital. Many Westfields logos that grace their facades - so collected a few.The 7th & baby ball pein below it to right were the first hammers i bought back in the 60s when building buses.Got a four legged alarm system that doesn`t allow me to swing a cat! cheers

    Very nice!

Is that a folder stand I see mouted sideways next to the drill press in the second to last pic? That's a clever idea, I can see all sorts of uses for it - sandpaper, saw blades

Now this is very organised I like it. How long did it take to get it like that and are you still organising?

Thanks Christos.Been in this place 12 years so it basically started from the first week. It`s ongoing as i tend to 'find' old bits & pieces so have to kinda make space as i go along. The roll-a-cabinet under the bench would probably make your eyes weep if you saw what`s inside.I just aquired some 25 chisels.20 of ex UK in varying degrees of useage so you can see my mind is ticking over in where or how i`m going to put them.I didn`t intend buying that many innitially,in fact i thought maybe a couple or three would suffice my needs. But twenty came up in one listing & i was the only bid. Some are new. Some are home machined to have suited the prior owners fancy.Pity, but thems the breaks. Some i`ve re-handled just tonight.Marples/Sorby/Footprint/Steadfast.Couple of ring-ins.Five of the total are from a seperate individually listed sale.Figured on 1 which has a very unusual blade design & got lucky in getting the rest.4 of them are Japanese.Probably won`t use them but they are nice old ones.Should be here tomorrow/Friday.All up averaged out @ $4.86 incl postages. That`s my monthly spending done. cheers

Got busy today to house the above mentioned chisels.First off a couple of non-vented louvres as a back drop:

Then a couple of new sticks drilled/cut-outs & there she be.The first 8 are ones i already had.Next 5 are the Japanese.
Lower rail houses the 20 UK ones & an old army chisel.

All at hand ready to use.The black thingy with the ali lid (c/o the frame i`m making for a C47 pilot window on bench) is the waste box to sweep crumbs off the vyce/bench into:
