It was a happy place, and I am so upset to be leaving it.

I've had so many happy times in there by myself, with my daughters, and with fellow woodworkers (hello to Juffy and Gomez) that it feels like a part of me, rather than an inanimate object.

I'm sure only a fellow shed-ite would understand.
why do you have to move out?

lots of people split up and stay in the same house -- usually all that's needed is a separate bedroom, or an addition to the shed.

Feel for you mate. I am now in phase two. Phase one got a skip and threw all my stuff/tools the lot in. Granted I have now moved 13,000 miles to get away from phase one.
In the final process of boarding out a 6 x 3 shed that phase two bought for me (we put it up together, now that was fun as ready assembled panels). Phase two now lets me loose in tool shops to look at the toys, but keeps a controlling hand on my wallet.
Bet your daughter loves her atomiser and will treasure it, cos you made it for her. Same goes for the table.

    Good luck

    Wongdai.

Just noticed where you live. If you need use of a shed you can pop round here when I finally finish it and kit it out.

Either that or we both stand there with a coffee in our hands discussing best lay out plans.

With you pal - been there myself more times (5) than I care to remember.

Last time went from a 15m long double garage to a single garage . Even a 3X3m shed doesn't help .

    Can't do anything in there.

FWIW hang out for a place that you will be happy with - it's no fun and simply a big frustration to have the gear and not be able to use it much less find it! .

    Hang in there.

It is sad when a man and his shed are forced apart
    I feel for you

As an alternative, maybe you can rent a shed somewhere?

sorry to hear your at a bit of a low point at the moment

i know what it is like to loose a workshop, where i used to live i had all the machines and stuff and made furniture, then the building got sold, and we had to move, with the rental crisis at the time i could not find a place that was affordable with a garage, i ended up having to sell all my machines. and now it has been 3 yrs since i made anything, it is very depressing, i can't even make any noise here without some neighbor winging.

i see this post is a few months old, how did it all work out?

    godspeed

What about the spare bedrooms? One lathe room and one finishing room????

Not that well actually. As you say rentals are not conducive to woodworking. I have my tools and machinery in an open ended carport. Certainly not good for them in the long run. I just don't have enough room here to do get organised really.

I know its a pretty poor excuse, as I have seen other people's workshops in really small areas, but I'm not allowed to make any changes to this place.

Hopefully between now and August (when my rental contract expires) I will have the missus out of the old place and will have freed up my assets allowing me to buy a place of my own, with a shed.

Thanks for checking - much appreciated. Us woodworkers have gotta stick together.

if woodworkers can't stick together, than what hope is there.

yeh, i'm renting too, but it is getting to the point where i'm just going to have to find the right sort of items to make that i can do with hand tools and minimal space, that way i can get stuck into some sweet and sawdust, and get my mind back into some passion.

chin up bigboy where there's will, there's a way.
