Mobile Girder Rail from pallet racking
Hi All.
I need a easy way of moving some slightly heavy (up to 1 Ton) stuff around my shed.
So, H&F has one of these for ~$900 - K090 | MGT-1T Mobile Girder Rail Package - 2 | For Sale Sydney Brisbane Melbourne Perth | Buy Workshop Equipment & Machinery online at machineryhouse.com.au
But my work has some pallet racking I can have for $50. Question is, can I use it? The manufacture says it is rated up to 2400kg so I can't see why not. I would just have another I beam across the two orange beams with some plate welded on the ends so it can't slip off. Then I would just get some 100 x 100 steel across the botom to allow me to put some wheels on it.
Can anyone see any issues to my plan?
Thanks

Pallet racking is normally rated as an evenly distributed load, per pair of beams, whereas I assume you will be putting a point load in the middle of the beams. You need to see if the manufacturer can give you that capacity.

Good point. I will still be using two beams but it would be a point load.
I will ask the question.
Thanks
