We have some progress at last but I think they are the slowest builders on earth, they have had 4 weekends to finish this build and they tell me they will have the roof on this weekend. Until I see the photos then it has not happened. As you can see I have aircell in the walls to help keep me in a little better temp region but I will be putting in some rockwool as well and some sheets of OSB when I get the electrics sorted out, I'm going down this Easter to do some work on it. The worst thing that I'm at is I have done no woodwork this year and probably wont until I get the house built next year.

Nice to see that things are moving, even if it's slow work.

You bet I will, it is already insulated with aircell in the walls but I'll be putting some batts behind the ply as well Just to make sure I don't get cold in winter.

Some pictures of the ply separation wall between workshop and garage with batts and a picture of SWMBO having a go with a mans tool she should not be using. Will get more done when I go down there late June early July.

Looks like you've plenty of rooms to fit the various tools etc. in. Each with own work space, to keep everything together .
    Never mind what SWMBO thinks.

Well guys I got a first fix for the electricity done (photos later) and now need to consider lighting. By doing a search of the web many seem to feel double fluorescent tubes might be the go instead of led. I've got four to buy but what watts or size should I go for? The area is 8 x 9 metres to light.

I'm happy with leds in my 12 x 6 shed, 12 of the ones below in 36w which is similar in size to a double flouro fitting. It's probably more light than necessary but better than having the opposite problem. What's the pro-flouro argument?

The suggested problem is with shadows over the work and not natural light effect. The shadow has a sharp contrast whereas
the fluoros have a softer edge.

I'm thinking that has to do with directionality and diffusion. It's not a problem I've noticed but these fittings have fairly beefy diffusers on them. When testing them without the diffusers I remember they were a bit distracting, like a bright glare above me. I didn't pay attention to shadows.

I can believe that led replacements for bare flouro tubes would be very directional. A flouro throws light everywhere so you'd get it bouncing off the ceiling and scattered around more. With leds pointing straight down and no diffusers things might get weird.

Incidentally, I got the 3000k warm version after years of using 4000-5000k flouro. The 3000k is definitely more yellow than I expected but I was finding the bright white types fatiguing. I figure I can use higher k task specific lights if necessary, and most days I have enough natural light through skylights anyway. My electrician told me he's been seeing some leds that can be switched between 3000k and 5000k but they might not be common yet.

[QUOTE=Superbunny;1792479]Yes I know it's cold down there but there are ways of keeping warm. I'm going to a place called Lalla

That's a magic part of Tassie. I had a vineyard and farm not far from there. Sold it in 2012 and moved further South to Dulcot, just out of Hobart. I envy your dedicated shed. My woodshop is more a Rubic's cube. Everything on wheels, move one thing to use another.

    Default SBs shed update

Well I'm all settled in Tas on a permanent basis now and getting some things done before we start building the new house, you can see the progress of that in My Rural Block sub forum if your interested. Power is in and runs from a generator at present and making progress with a new path and more internal wall insulation and cladding. I have not decided what to do about the ceiling at this stage, maybe bats and some wire to hold them up as the engineer said these sheds are not really designed to carry heavy loads. I will have to get a bench made soon so I can do some work like making the doors for the new house etc.

ps just noticed some pics are the wrong way up.

SB, a second run of the aircell under the rafters to create an airpocket may help and be lighter than batts.
