Default SBs New Shed in Tasmania

Well I tried not to post but it got to me in the end. I'll be moving to 8ac in Tasmaina and off the grid to build my dream home with Mrs SB, hope to move end of next year. Yep, 8ac of trees, a creek and peace to live out my days. Anyhow a couple of weeks ago I ordered a new 12m x 9m, double door shed for my new workshop from Rainbow Sheds in Launceston. Just going through the building app now for the shed and house (note how I mentioned the shed first) and hope to start building before xmas. I paid the extra to have it lined netted and insulated including the slab so all I got to do is line the walls with ply and electrics. I just can't wait to move from Qld to Tass, bring it on.

I envy you SB...I travel to Tassie each year to walk Cradle Mountain in April and have covered a fair amount of the State. Which part of tassie are going to inhabit?

Are you retiring or shifting jobs?

    Where in Tassie?

We tried to buy a bloke of land in Orford but the dill who owns it wants way too much for it.

Beware the trees, make sure they aren't too close to the buildings, they have some beauty fires down there.

Yes I know it's cold down there but there are ways of keeping warm. I'm going to a place called Lalla just outside of Lillydale 20mins out of Launceston. No, not to retire but I'll keep teaching once the house (shed) is built but only part-time. You know, there is a place that's much colder than Tass and it's in the ACT, it's called Canberra, so I don't see it quite as bad. Yep, they do have bush fires there but our planning permit has addressed this issue. I'll show some pictures of the shed when it's built, just imagine 12m x9m of shed, I'll be in heaven.

9X12 won't take long to fill that, at least you've still got 7 7/8 acres to fill. Enjoy the serenity down there.

I hope your move south goes well. I moved here from NSW 9 years ago and never looked back. The climate is very comfortable and never stops me from getting stuff one. I live on the mountain behind Hobart, on the snow line. If you have 8 acres of land with trees you will have ample firewood to keep you warm. Good luck with it regards James

    G'Day "SB",
Can't say I'd like to move from Caboolture to Launceston even for 8acres & a 12x9mtr shed....
I know Tassie is a very nice place to visit and I'll return there for another trip one day BUT my maroon blood say Queensland is were I'd choice.
Good luck with the move, very envious of such a shed and acreage.
The Brisbane Wood Show girls & boys are going sure miss your first class organizational efforts....
    Cheers, crowie

Well crowie, I've still got one more show next year to go, swmbo is from NZ and I just find the heat repressive as I get older and we go overseas quite a bit just to get away from the heat otherwise we love Qld and it's people.
