2nd December 2014, 10:22 PM #16Let's see, shouldn't need council approval if under 20 squares, greater than 900 off the boundary, not masonry and not reflective and less than 3 meters in height.

Well after waiting 4 weeks for my Weathertex siding to turn up from Bunnings, I called Weathertex and they told me they delivered to Bunnings 2 weeks ago. I got the Weathertex people to talk to the Bunnings people, and lo and behold Bunnings did have it. Had it delivered and all the aluminium trim edges and joiners are missing.
Rather than waiting, I went into Bunny's today and got a credit on the missing trim and decided to batten the edges with some Merbau strips. Looking better already:

Well done Roland!! Looks great so far!!
In Qld you can't put upa shed larger than 10Sq.m. without council permission. I'm surprised that Sydney councils are so lenient.

In NSW its actually two (2) 20 square metre sheds without the council being involved. It wasn't a council decision, it was imposed by the State government several years ago. I suspect that some councils were making too much of a good thing with fees and p*ssed off some MP who had clout.
Local Councils are still stuffing people around, one council basing their approval fees and such on their estimate of the cost of building at top professional prices, not on what it actually costs you and your mates to build it yourself. Say $10,000 to replace a back gate!

Kill 2 birds with 1 stone, that floor is going to be a PITA to sweep clean as well as the flexing as you walk on it, fit Structa flooring, stop it at the doorway by the thickness of the doors plus clearance, get a piece of aluminium from your nearest metal supplier bent as a Z shape but 90deg bends 18mm for floor thickness, 35 or 40mm for door thickness then Xmm for floor joists etc. seal in place with Sikaflex
I am assuming the doors open outwards. The person who never made a mistake never made anything

Hi Ray, thanks for the suggestion
Yes, I'm planning to have the doors open outwards. I assume that the first angle of the Z flashing would be the vertical face of the edge of the Yellow Tongue. Do I still need to protect the edge of the YT if I do it that way?
Cheers

Just seal it with Sikaflex and/or fit a carpet angle over it, will protect anything dragged in or out of the shed
