New shed
Im thinking i may need a new (actually additional) shed.
But what size?
I can do 10m2 without permits.
The choices are more or less 3x3, 2.4x4.4, or a custom 5x2.
Its going to be mainly for storage but want the future possibilities of using it for say bandsaw, lathe, cnc or...
Im on a hill so probably need to do a little cut and fill, with a paved floor.
Seeking views as to the optimum aspect ratio. And yes, it is already too small...but hopefully it will get stuff out of the real shed and make it slightly more functional.
(probably just going to be a prefab tin shed, but it could still be a custom build). Because i have unlimited time and no other projects...

I had a rough second hand 3x3. That seemed a good aspect ratio. I moved it and when I put it back up I laid two levels of Red Gum Sleepers pinned together first which lifted it 200 mm I think? It could have been 150mm ?
I put a brick and sand floor level with the bottom of the sleepers inside and a new stronger roof and door fixed to welded 50x 50 steel bracing. I buggered the original roof falling through it while picking plums. The roof went down and the walls just went out with that.
The lift was really good for it. It made a big difference inside . If I ever needed another one Id do it again . On bricks or sleepers .

looking at the above pic, that would be termed as non permanent shed. If you decided to play the councils game buy a S/H one once they have seen it (if you bother to notify them as its not permanent) then you could squeeze another metre plus in length.
I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I don't believe i need to involve council, so they won't see it if it is under 10m2, but i believe they make extensive use of aerial photographs to detect unauthorised building works.
I did have a 3x3 up on a few courses of loose bricks for garden stuff. That little extra headroom makes a big difference. Mainly im wondering if a shallower and wider would be better for storage. Probably 3x3 better for working space

I did a similar thing to get all the petrol stuff (chainsaws, mowers etc) and the air compressor out of my shed. 2.4 x 4.1 is an excellent format for storage with shelves right along each side but I don't think it would work for machinery use - you would probably better off with the 3 x 3 for that.
