    Default Another new shed build

I recently downsized to a place with no garage and no shed. Fortunately had some space but very restricted to land size.
Shed will be about 7200mm x 3600mm, and 150mm from back fence and each side fence. Consequently I can only access from the front, or long side. I was planning on glass doors for light but vetoed by the Ministry for Well being (my well being). Also got vetoed on a window, doesn't want to look at my mess. So will be relying on light with double doors open, small acrylic roof panel, and LCD lighting. It does good height, 2700mm walls then a 20 degree pitch to abut 3300 along the ridge line.

Plans are below along with pics of slab prep, and the electrical inlet. Have 35 amps going in on a separate board, sparky reckons it should be heaps. I hope so. Also got another conduit laid with a pull through, just in case. Slab should be poured this week.Shed Plan.jpgslab Prep.jpg

Hope you know a nice thin tradie to attach the wall sheet. Trained monkey with a 900 angle drill?

Interested to see how that is overcome, as well as boundary fence maintenance and accumulation of vegetation from overhanging trees.

Any chance you could have pulled the whole shed forward from the back fence by 1 m. That would have given you a place for your DC and hidden external storage away from the MOWB's prying eyes.

Hi Bob, I did think of it, but the block is small as you can see by the width. I also need to add on about a 6 metre extension to the house, so every metre for the shed was taking away from whatever back yard/patio area we had left. I will have to put the DC in an air tight cabinet and vent out through a wall. I have given it a lot of thought and think i can get it to work ok. Not ideal, I know. Speaking of DC, I have been giving it a lot of thought, and read plenty on the forums here. Will definitely go with a 3hp and 6" ducting. Just have to plan out where everything will go.

A good idea Beardy, and I think I am going to have to do it.

The other thing is that here in Victoria, I could either be 150mm from the fences or 1m all the way around. No in between. Crazy bloody planning. I would have just lost too much valuable space.

We have the same rules but I wanted to be able to get around the sides and the back for the storage. Fortunately we have an 11m wide block. I also added to an existing shed which was built according to old rules (750mm) so I did not want to remove that shed. So I ended up with an odd "L" shaped shed with the bottom of the "L" being 5.3 x 3.5 and the long part of the "L" being 6 x 4m.

The main reason I could not go any bigger is because SWMBO wanted to leave two below average looking trees intact. One of the trees is struggling as most of its roots are under the shed I suspect it will die in the near future.

DC vented outside should work fine.

I assume they assemble the wall panels on the slab and then raise them into place.

I feel your pain. That was another limiting factor, MOWB wanted to keep a crappy tree of some sort. I actually think it is noxious but I was never going to win that one!

Slab is poured and the materials are being delivered Monday. With a bit of luck it should go up next week.

Which brings me to planning what goes where. I am thinking something like the image attached and would welcome any suggestions. I would like this figured out before the sparky returns.

If the opening I see on the lower wall to the left is a set of opening doors, have you planned to put your table saw on a mobile base so you can move it to face outside the doors to provide longer outfeed if the need arises?

I would push for a window, it makes a big difference being able to look outside every now and then, keeping the shed tidy is not that hard, natural light at the work bench is a great addition.
