Plenty more light coming! That is just some temporary strip lighting so I can play after dark.

I agree. The complain about my shed but not the place just over the road with a 30 year old caravan rotting in the front yard with trees growing through it!!

Anyhow, since my last post, I have added window trims to the street facing windows. Not needed for a shed, but it makes it look nice plus it helps keep my renovator skills up to standard.

I have well and truly stolen coffenup's power system. I used 18x42 and 18x92 FJ pine cauise its cheaper than clear. Aside from the switchboard side, its all currently tacked in with finishing brads ready to be screwed into place (nightime job when I get a chance!). I am going to apologise for the photos in advance as it seems google has decided to change picassaweb and now I can no longer set image sizes, but lets hope it works.

Edit, photos dont work. trying to fix it now.
Edit 2, google has killed me. Images posted via imgur now. I need to find a new alternative to picassaweb that I actually liked (thanks google, I hate you)
Edit 3, still not working... Grrrr.
Edit 4. Finally working I think. Sorry about images size. Blame google.

I made a jig for this. I set one side, using the measurements and spirit level (chalkline would be more accurate) then use the jig to tack in the other side.

I think I constructed my first ever project entirely in my shed today! I would not call it fine woodworking, but think along the lines of a Chinese packing crate! I needed a small box for the stove pipes for my tent stove, so I banged out a little box in about half an hour! Made from left over ply from the shed lining and the FJ pine offcuts from the power duct. All done on the good old table saw with the sliding table that has been unused for about 4 years. Its a great saw, but, I cant wait to get my new hammer slider. I am like a kid at christmas at the moment!

Its nice to be able to finally do some stuff in the shed. I am off to the snowies camping for a couple of weeks then when I get back I will finish of the cabling and lighting and then I will start on the workbench I planned to build 3 years ago!

BTW, as for the ugly shed, the new neighbors on the left asked me if my mate and I could build a block fence out the back the same as mine! Must have done something right!

Pulled my finger out the last few days and finished most of the wiring. In the process of doing so I have decided to make a few upgrades which will be undertaken tomorrow. Also need to glue the conduit together for the electric gate opener. It should be fully usable tomorrow all going well! I have taken advantage of the Masters grand flog everything sale to buy all the breakers, conduit, powerpoints etc. I was hoping to use double 10A GPO's on the 10A circuit, but all sold out. At just over $3.50 each for singles (they had an extra 10% off last Monday/Tuesday) I am still coming in at around half price based on my trade supplier price of $6.40 for a double which I don't really need... Its clear looking at the pickings that 10A dual GPO, surface sockets and rolls of cable were first to go. Even at the original 30% of electrical it was still good buying. I bought 10 single 10A's ,4 single 15A and I had a couple of 10A doubles lying around that have yet to find a home.

The new saw that is coming in Feb recommends a 20A plug, so I will probably run another separate circuit for it, even though its happy on 15A. That will be a later project, I just want to get in and start building stuff.

Also decided to put a ceiling in the carport. Over engineered big time so it can hold timber. Used FC sheet, still need to add cover strips and cut the tin so I have access from inside the shed! Just need to figure out now how to insulate that section of roof. Not sure if I can put something up from the inside, or if I should remove roof sheets and put proper roof insulation in.

Good score on the electrical parts.

    . . . . for a double which I don't really need.
That's sort of what I thought when I installed doubles but I installed then anyway and looking around my shed I find that of the 16 doubles I eventually installed on 2 don't have both points with something plugged into them.

What I found was that in areas where I have battery chargers and/or many small tools/appliances I would recommend installing 4 or even 6 way power points straight up.
An alternative is to use Expander boards but on benches they are a PITA so this is what I ended up doing.
However next time I'm going to wire more PP in from scratch.

BTW I see Bunnings has a switched double PP for $5.

I have an area dedicated to charging stuff. In that area I have installed 4 single GPO's. which at some point I will upgrade to doubles.

Everything but an external flood light is now wired up. Just stopped for lunch but should be fully completed by the end of the day.

Next step will be a bench for the SCMS with extra storage. This will double up as a work bench until I get a chance to build my proper woodworking bench. Given I have a large amount of 70*35 and 90*45 pine studs lying around this will form the basis of the bench. I guess I also start needing to put some serious though into dust collection. I wanted to use a clearvue but not sure where I can accommodate it yet...

Finally starting to make sawdust. Started on some benches today. All made from cheap pine studs. This will be the main saw bench, the completed frame is the lower section for the SCMS. Part one of the pine benchtop made from 90*45 pine studs which filled a wheelie bin with sawdust to get some resemblance to straight timber. Cant complain, I picked up a bunch of timber for next to nothing, so the whole bench top is going to cost about $20 excluding labor

Apologies for the photos, I am yet to find an alternative to google's Picassaweb which was perfect for sharing photo's. Hopefully it works.

So my knock together saw/workbench is almost done. This is supposed to be a temporary hack so I have somewhere to work, but I promise you that its most likely going to be permanent. My current workbench is the panel saw... Its nice to be doing some work inside now!

    20161010_165109_crop.jpg

Not sure if you can see, but I am using a couple bessey clamps to glue up the bench top and it has a massive bend in it. I bought a couple as trial during the masters discount, total waste of money. For large glue ups pipe clamps are the only way to go (I have done this a lot for making centre boards for boats). I have a stack in my other storage area but couldn't be bothered pulling them out. Bench top might end up with some bowing as a result, but the cheap pine I use was so wet I dont think the glue up is going to be major issue here! I also used this as learning experience with the new domino machine (I am impressed FWIW).

I made this all with the worst pine framing timber I have ever worked with. The benches are made with 70*35 and the main bench top is 90*45 heavily dressed to try and make it somewhat flat. I filled 1 and half bags from the 2hp chip collector (I dont call it a dust collector) just trying to get a reasonably flat bench top. The 45mm thickness ended up being 35mm...

I started using the SCMS (Bosch GCM12) inside today with a shop vacuum. Its clear beyond a doubt that the next thing I need is some descent dust collection. I was going to build a Bill Pentze cyclone but that will take me another 2 years, so thinking about lashing out and buying a ClearVue now. Whatever path I end up taking, the descision has to be made very soon.

I might suggest for the next glue up to clamp closer to the bar. I used to clamp with F type clamps and they were also just as bendy as the pressure was on the other edge of the clamp.

I adjusted several times, hence the reason most clamps are on the bottom in that shot! I should have been less lazy and gone and retrieved my good clamps! Mind you, when I glue up center boards I am typically using much better timber and I am more precise.

And another almost full day in the shed again!! Had a few meetings this morning and had to take the shop dog to the vet for a check up, but mostly empty day to knuckle down and finish off a bunch of stuff. Work is about to get real busy again, so I am taking every single chance I can get to try and make the shed a usable space as it will serve to be a retreat for some stress relief when my current contract kicks into top gear.

I spent the morning finishing off the workbench and SCMS bench, then tidied up and started putting stuff into the places I had planned. Pretty happy so far, the shed is now usable. Space is tight, but I have to live with what council would allow, just glad I have a shed. This afternoon I finished off the wiring, all power points are now connected. I am a sparky but have been off the tools for a while now and the rules have changed a bit, so I get a sparky mate to come around to check my work. He dropped in this afternoon with a polarity tester and we wired up the breaker and tested all the power points. Good to know 20 years on I can still get it all right! I also started adding in the LED lighting, man I love this stuff. So bright and more diffused than fluro's.

I measured up some space to see if I can fit in a Clearvue cyclone but height is an issue. Not sure where I am going to go with that now. I initially wanted it outside, but not sure if I can achieve that aesthetically. Inside, the spot I had allocated for the dusty lacks height. I could cut into the mezzanine floor, but I dont really want to do that either. Not sure what I am going to do, but I really want to get a decent dust collection system up and running soon. I am a chronic asthmatic, and I have been sawing timber all day and I can already notice the effects.

Hoping I make make a start on this project soon, the woodworking bench! Another noob starts a workbench. That post was prior to my shed. I was going to build that bench in the tiny area I have under the front balcony, not sure what I was thinking back then. Thankfully the BCC changed the planning laws since that time!

If you have a problem with dust being asthmatic then forget about the aesthetic your heath is more important.

That aspect has taken priority. I have ordered and paid for the Clearvue CV1800 against much personal protest. I know I could have made one for a hell of a lot less, but I just want to start doing stuff and I have a backlog of things that I need to get done to keep the trouble and strife happy. I should be able to pick it up next week, so making that work is my next job. It has surprised me that one limited week in the shed would wreak so much havoc on my asthma. After just a day of staying away and doing other things I can notice the difference. I have had to deal with asthma all my life, so I am well educated in asthma management now. I have the tools here to measure my conditions so I might start doing that and recording a log so I can assess the real impact.

I have a clearvue and they're cheap at twice the price if it mean you have it NOW,,, been there done that twice ..never again!
If you are having space problem you can mount the cone and motor/fan separately eg;cone inside and motor/fan outside.

Yup. I just decided to bite the bullet and go for it. Payment should have cleared so I will follow up tomorrow and find out when I can pick the bits up.

Plan at this point is to attempt to mount the motor and possibly the impeller above the mezzanine if I can. I am also going to use filters for the moment and vent inside, but the long term plan will be to vent outside. If I can somehow mount the filters above the mezzanine I will also be able to add a muffler to the outlet. This will give me more options on venting outside as well. At the moment, an external installation is off the cards, its just to hard in this part of the world and living with millionaires either side I really don't want to start fights.
