My Shed - Constant WIP
This is the fourth time I have written this....site kept jambing when I'd use emoticons!
This is the first time I've posted. So I thought I'd start with my shed. Shed is a 6x6 double garage dedicated to workshop (metal, mechanical, man caving and woodwork). Toys go in another shed. It also houses the garden stuff but.....I've just bought garden sheds to get it out and free up some more room.
I am really particular about organisation, I like to work quickly and efficiently. I also don't like wasted space. If things aren't where they should be I get frustrated because it slows me down (I believe Adam Savage calls it 'first order retrievability'). My better half calls me high functioning OCD...bless her.
The bench at the back is 6m long and a bit higher than average, as I am a bit taller. All made out of recycled timber (that was free!) and structa floor tops. Structa floor is a cheap material, semi waterproof and really smooth. I've also built cupboards out of it (like the one the TV is sitting on) to hold all my woodworking hand tools. This cupboard also inbuild LED strip lights that are on a sensor, so when you open the door, it illuminates your tools to make them easy to see.
Heat comes from my Warmbrite Enamel wood fire, circa 1950's. Installed it a couple of weeks ago (been sitting in the shed for at least one winter and two summers!), which means nightime woodworking is more fun.
Love to get some feedback from the group!

Very nice - and your wife is right

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Another person that likes a clean and organised shed. Welcome to the club and take no notice of the envious people who can't keep their shed clean.

Firstly welcome to the forum.
As you will find there are other OCD people here (Sturdee to name one) on the other hand we have (no names mentioned to protect the innocent and he's a good friend and bits n pieces gather). Of course there are the middle of the roaders/fence sitter who can't make up their minds which way to go so jam pack their shed with so much stuff there's no room to move or the shed is a constant WiP with things coming and going machines included.
Its hard to make out which is the wood pile for turning and/or the heater in the photo or do you decide this on a whim ei- Need that bit of wood because A) You have a turning job to do OR B) its damn cold and you require warmth.

Love your setup mate. Well done. You need to turn the couch cushions around though before you can claim OCD.

Definitely too tidy but also very well organised.
Two things I always look at is dust extraction (of course ) , and where fire extinguisher(s) are located - above the fireplace is perhaps not the best place as this would be considered a high risk area. The best place is usually by the most used door.
You seem to have plenty of space which is good because it will soon fill up.
Other than that I think the curtains match the sofa nicely

It looks like a good shed to work in.
The log bench must be very handy.
The sensor operated strip lights sound interesting too.
My shed is always full and there is plenty of sawdust but I usually know where everything is. I like the "first time retrievability".
Can you send me a tube of 1080? I have some crows that need feeding!!Scally

Nice workspace. Like the wood heater but I wouldn't waste space storing firewood, I'd just throw all my stuff ups in there
The time we enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
