I was under the understanding that power cables needed to be 600mm underground when doing anything with 240volt?

    You are correct
I still have to add conduit, plus dig in and when complete the cable will be covered under concrete...

Just curious, where did you do your trade and how much work was it to get your qualifications recognized in Aus? Was it just AS3000 familiarization?
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Carl.....just to add, if you going through soil then it is 600 mm but in my case it's in concrete so it's only 50 mm.

I did my training in South Africa, started in 1989, Industrial Electrician. Had my trade recognized here, came over seven years ago and had to do the AS3000 course for licensing. I started going through the workbook while still in ZA, that was the requirement from the training org here. Once here i completed the course and test. There is not much difference between AUS and ZA regs

Well.... i messed up a bit. Looks like the groove might be a little too narrow to accommodate a 25 mm and 16/20 mm conduit, the hole in the brick is also too small.

I didn’t think that network cable could be in the same conduit as power cable, it had to have its own conduit if run adjacent or separated by at least 300mm.

Apart from the down pipes everything else on the shed is completed. There were a few issues but Alpha sorted them out. I hope to have power to the shed this weekend. The data will be delayed cause it's not required for a while. The lights need to be up and working for the concreter next week

Had a bit of time today, got some of the electrical stuff. Decided on the location of the distribution board. Hope to have it secured in placed and all wired up this weekend.
Since i have not yet decided on the shed layout i will have to wait with the power point locations. The conduit for the garden lights and irrigation solenoids will also have to done. Hope i remember everything before the concrete gets done

Put in an extra conduit now, it doesn't matter if it never gets used

I would suggest that you either paint the bottom of your wall sheets with bitumen paint, or glue in some dampcourse to keep the concrete away from the sheets - otherwise the alkalai concret will rust out the bottom 100mm of your wall sheets in a few years time. - it only takes a barrier layer to stop that. Around WA I often see sheds with the bottom 200mm or so replaced when the shed gets to 10yo and the sheets are no longer touching the slab, and the vermin are getting into the walls.

The concrete slab will have plastic under it, get the conceter to turn this up and tape to the first wall girt before he pours and when cured cut 50mm above the slab.

Yes - I forgot about that trick when I made the comment - as long as you have something there when they pour, you should be OK. My shed build (no thread or photos yet) was slab down first, then build over the top - a 5mm gap was designed in to prevent contact, and it was enforced by bringing the sarking through the gap as well.
