The guy finished all the work on the shed. I have been digging trenches for the conduit and irrigation pipes. Found some pipe damage caused by the shed builder, i am aware of the pipes...he obviously didn't realize they were there Anyway i will fix everything in time. I am just so tired of this messy back yard, can't wait to have it all tidied up!

It depends on things like desired speed of the network, capability of the cable, what's happening in the electrical cable, and what the intervening material is. For 10 Mbit network, normal 240V cables, in rammed earth, its 300 mm, for concrete its 75 mm and for brick its 100 mm. For higher V or a more noisy electrical environment, higher network speeds, more separation is needed.

At work, where there were lots of 3P lines running all around the place, when they installed a high speed network the data cabling had to be 1 m away from the power cables. This meant the data cables could not be located in the ceiling cavity of the central corridor where the electricals were. The result was wet concrete drilling of ~30 holes, each of 75 mm diameter through some 300 mm thick concrete supporting beams. We had to evacuate sections of the building for about a week at a time while they drilled these holes. The sound of constant concrete drilling lasted about 3 months and drove us all nuts.

It looks like your shed is quiet close to your house? We live on a long skinny block with the front of the house located close to the front of the block. Our internet connection is at the front of the house and I installed network cables in my house in 1995 before Wifi was available so now I have plenty of spare network points. As a result to maximise data speed we now have 3 wireless base stations in the house. The one at the front of the house is part of the NBN modem. One basestation is in the middle of the house, and a 3rd basestation at the back of the house which is about 25m away from my shed so I can still get wifi access inside my sheet metal clad shed. The strength of the Wifi signal varies inside the shed between 1 and 2 bars with the door closed, and between 1 bar to full strength with the door open. Saved me a lot of mucking around.

I thought while i am digging and cutting i might as well install a network cable. I used two separate conduits in the concrete with a metal barrier in between, also using screened network cable so i don't expect any issues.

A bit more work done today. Started tidying up the area around the shed. Installed the irrigation controller inside the shed, installed conduit and cable for the irrigation solenoids and installed the cable for the low voltage front garden lights. Managed to fit four led lights inside the shed....

Exciting stuff.... the concrete is done. Looks great. I was helping a bit to wheel concrete, the truck driver told me he had about 5 wb of concrete left, i used the opportunity to quickly pour my garden shed base. The concreter had a piece of reinforcing left over, just the correct size. So it ended up being a very productive day. Now the wait before i can load some of my stuff in

That would have been good, there was just enough for the garden shed

Looks like a great build, lucky for the extra concrete. Keen to keep an eye on the progress of your build.

While waiting for the concrete to set we started tidying up. Installed two garden bed's for veggies. The stones coming tomorrow then i will finish putting them all around the shed. Maybe i'll install the other two led lights and start wiring the light circuits.
