I went secondhand with mine - found an office that was being refurbished less than a year after the troffers were all replaced, so they were almost new. I think I paid $25 each with 2/ 28W T5 fluoros per troffer. Works out somewhere around 5800 lumens/troffer.

At the moment they're temporarily mounted using metal clips from Bunnings that happened to engage nicely with the holes in the sides of the troffers and also looped in the end link of a light gauge chain. I'm going to line the ceiling so they'll all be coming down again - will probably just hang them under the ceiling lining rather than bothering with recessing them.

It's a good amount of light for a 7.5 x 5.3m shed but I could still use more. No complaints and I'm not looking to change it, but it's rare to have too much light.

It might be temporary but IMHO you need to do something urgently with that dodgy wiring, there looks to be cables under tension on metal angles and framework. To me there’s a risk of injury from either a zap or a fall from getting tangled up in the cables.

    It is hideous, isn't it

Don't stress - the cable loops lie above my no-go equipment storage zone (I'm working on lining the walls) and the tension is due to nothing more than the weight of the cables and powerboards. I did check the lead on the light that's visibly under tension a couple of weeks ago when I unplugged it to use the socket, and there wasn't so much as an indent in the cable.

That said, it is a terrible setup and should be burned with fire

I bought one of the philips today as needed something as it is getting pretty dark - they priced matched so it ended up being about $22

The alibaba page is very confusing to me there seems to be a lot of products and I dont really know how to distinguish between them all.

Is this something that would be suitable?

Two things stand out to me on anythingoverseas lights...

Australian approval - if your shed burns down, bet your cookies the insurance company will do everything it can to wiggle out of the claim, and unapproved devices strike me as a pretty good excuse. You'd need to check if these are approved.

Also note Alibaba prices everything in USD, so do your currency conversion!

Speaking of that, did you check the cost of shipping those lights? Here's the table of shipping costs...

    Destination: Australia
Shipping Method - Estimated Delivery Time - Shipping Cost
    Express UPS Expedited - 4-15 days - US$ 106.05 / Piece
    Express EMS - 6-20 days - US$ 124.38 / Piece
    Express TNT - 4-18 days - US$ 131.05 / Piece
    Express DHL - 3-13 days - US$ 142.5 / Piece
    Express UPS Express Saver - 3-10 days - US$ 156.64 / Piece
    Express FedEx IE - 4-15 days - US$ 164.15 / Piece
    Express FedEx IP - 3-10 days - US$ 249.71 / Piece

You're looking on Alibaba, which is usually B2B with MOQ's (though this particular ad might not have MOQ). You might be better off looking at AliExpress

Quwerty those were the lights I bought. Specifically the LY-T5SL 1500-40W (5', 4000 lumen, 6000K, frosted cover). At the bottom of the page is a spot to make inquiries to them. Tell them which light you are interested in and ask for a price breakdown with shipping options. Shipping to me in the middle of Canada was $189 for 22 to my door. Also ask what other lights they have suitable for your shed. The price at the top of the page is usually for the smallest light and the longer ones are more (they all seem to do that). Also tell them you want to see the certificate for the Australian standard. They will email a pdf and if you get them there will be the proper stickers on the lights and boxes to make you sparky and inspector happy. If you want longer cords to go to the electrical box, mention that as the supplied one is about 200mm and they have them to 1 metre or more. They are a buck or two extra. They also have a hanging kit if you want to have them lower than the ceiling. You can link up to 200W worth of lights together through the first light so in my case 5 x 40W. I only linked 4 per box. The light can be on a dimmer individually but not if they are linked together.

They answered all my questions and
were good to deal with. Do your homework and see if it works out for you.

    Pete

I think I'll have a chat to Lonyung. I played around with a few product and delivery options on their Alibaba pages, and you can occasionally get sensible shipping numbers. Based on that and the quoted 110+/-10% lumens/m, they seem to work out a little cheaper per lumen than the philips battens here (even with the 10% bulk discount from RR). Small numbers at quoted prices (a few tenths of a cent/lumen), and I'm not sure if we'd be hit by the 10% GST for the Chinese flavours - seems a bit mixed. Bangood add it in now, some aliexpress don't.

I got around AUD 665 inc delivery for 20 of the 1200mm 30W of the same type Peter got. I'm hoping the deal might be better with direct contact. May look into getting some 600mm for directly over benches/desks/tools.

I have a couple of the Philips in the shed. They're fine, but I prefer the Chinese wiring/linking system, and the fact that they're dual which will save installation time.

Just as a general heads up here on Chinese LED's, my experience is you need to check that all connection screws are tight, I know they don't draw big current but all mine were not what I would call tight.
