Looking good Geoff, you could even fit a "real" mill in that shed

A real mill will certainly fit - but I might have a problem running it!

Checking around today, I noticed that the power to the shed (3 phase) comes in on a seperate link to the one for the house and from a different power pole. I have a horrible feeling that this will mean 2 different (chargable) services for power

If this is the case, I'll be shopping for a long extension cord

I did call Aurora Energy to ask about the separate shed connection and they confirmed it's a separate service (common apparently). The problem is that that particular service has not been in operation since 2006 so they won't connect without an electricians inspection certificate. I'm guessing that this is not cheap especially if there is remedial work needed. Now I have to find out the owners liability on this.

Ray, the fridge and the jug sound like an excellent idea. More tools is a given!

Got a friend to help me move the heavy items from my storage unit in Hobart down to Port Huon. The steep driveway made it a challenge stopping the lathe and the fridge disappearing down the drive, across the highway and into the water!

Shopping tomorrow for something to build a lathe stand from.

You should have reversed up the drive Geoff at least that way you could watch the view as it came closer.

Have a nice bench here which will fit the lathe nicely its been well built know the fellow who did it . Look forward to seeing the new one

It's a long driveway and I've only just gotten used to driving the van forwards!
I'm embarrassed to say I still haven't gotten around to installing the reversing camera in that nice GPS you got for me.

I might just copy it, it's a tried and tested design

A bit of disappointment regarding the shed - it's not as big as I'd guessed. It's only 7 x 10 . A big improvement on my 2.4 x 4 workspace I used to have in Sydney.

The other problem is as prevously mentioned, power. Awaiting an electrician to do a safety check prior to Aurora turning power on. I know it's going to fail as the interior wiring is nearly as old as me! After asking a few questions on the renovate.com forum, I might have a solution provided I can find an affordable electrician in the area.

Why should you be paying for the elec work this should be own forking out especially if it is unsafe and you were given the impression the shed had power to start with.

Bummer about the size Geoff means less area for more tools

Default A new shed - definitely!

I guess I've been assuming the worst and that the electrician would not pass the wiring without major work for which the owner would not wish to pay.

Seems I was worrying about nothing. The electrician has just been and was happy with the wiring after a few earth checks. A new main switch and a few old/unused switches/fuses taken out of the switchboard and it's right to go - as soon as Aurora get the paperwork and arrange connection, probably Tuesday.
I'll have lights and power and should I ever need it, 3 phase.

Happy at last - until I get the first electricity bill!

I await the sounds of machines echoing out of the shed.

Good to see that the shed is usable.
I would have been having shed-withdrawal by now.
    Power on Geoff!

While waiting for power, I've made sure that everything that belongs in the shed, is in the shed.
All I have to do now is find a home for it all
Photo 4 shows the 'other' shed. Just 4 metres square with a similar sized carport attached. Photo 5 is the view from the house of the sheds. The 'windows' at the top of the shed are just plastic sheeting that needs to be replaced. Some second hand laserlite will do the job.

    Hi Geoff,
What sort of lease have you got on that? One could get too comfortable in that very fast and not fit in the next place.

I'm here for at least the next 12 months. Based on the length of time that the place was vacant before I got it, I'm confident I'll be here for a while.

Geoff looking at the over all size of shed and house you sure its not dual lease?

Like the idea you have 2 sheds one for metal and wood each in the main big shed at opposite ends of course. Then wood storage shed or garden and rest of rubbish.

I see wood storage racks and the loft will come in very handy.
Loft could become a Universal gazing platform.
