I am about to make the next section of wall that will have double doors. I have the doors, 2040 high x 920mm wide each. How wide and tall do you make the frame opening. I have sourced or even thought about the jamb material yet. I will be some time away before i can afford it, the walls and lining have me at the limit for now.

Will 2 x 90x45 on jack studs be enough for this opening or should i get 2 lengths of something taller, like 140 or 190 x 45 for above the double door?

I hope that your buying second hand wherever possible, doors are always being tossed out and buying them can be cheap.
    Dont forget insulation NOW.

Yep, doors are second hand. I even tried to beg the door company for 'seconds'. I am a good scrounger

I insulated the outer walls, i wasnt going to bother with internal ones. Is there much point?

Hi Pete. If your wall is not load bearing, then installing one 90 x 45 on edge above the trimmer (90 x 45 on flat) and checked into bottom of jack studs (short studs above opening) would be plenty to stiffen up opening. Double studs either side of opening are a good idea too.

So i made the next bit and i got to the end and i was looking at it laying on the ground and i thought "fug, i forgot the jack studs". So i screwed everything around the door. All of the studs above and to the side. Pulled it up tight, but there is still a little wobble east/west on the centre door frame stud. Any thoughts on stiffening it a little?

Looks good Pete. Is the wobble at the steel post end of the opening? Or at the other side (with the 4 studs)?

No it was in the post in the middle of the wall with the 4 studs. But a little more anchoring and then the sheet and its solid, it was a tiny wobble.

Got 2/3 wall lined, framing the last 3rd today and then doors later this week. Then i can concentrate on benches, tool stations and timber racks. I have 4m+ of shadow board on the right, i am thinking i will French cleat the wall facing this pic above the router.

I am ready to finish lining this wall and put some doors jambs in.

I have found some ply that even cheaper than yellow tongue and i was thinking of this for the other side. Is non structural 12mm ply ok in this scenario or will it absorb moisture from the air and buckle later? Or is the yellow tongue going to be the lowest maintenance and easiest?
