I use an old PC with a good set of speakers.
PC has a Radio/TV tuner & about 80Gb of MP3 music files.
It also has a BIG CLOCK program.
During the cricket season, I have the TV on channel 9 with the volume down & the Radio on the ABC.
The Radio commentary is several seconds ahead of the TV so I can be working & when I hear something happening worth a look, I can stop work & look at the screen in time to see the action.
If you have a very dusty shed, hang Chux over the air intakes of the equipment with a fan in it & wash the Chux out often.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

I use a $50 set of Bluetooth speakers from wally world. $20 big digital atomic clock from Sam's. Don't have to set the time at daylight saving and I keep the phone in by back pocket. Shed close enough to house so phone pics up wifi and stream for free.

I use whatever I can find that is too beaten up to use in a posh location. At the moment I'm using a small portable stereo that has a CD and AM/FM radio that was used by the tradies at our old house when they built/painted/plastered it. Very beaten up and old but it still works so I don't care. When it dies I will find another at a garage sale or the Sallies. As long as I can get the cricket and the footy on the radio I'm pretty happy.

Yeah, this is made significantly trickier because I'm a computer geek by trade, and need it to talk to my phone!
Kind of tempted by this - bit expensive though:
Ryobi One+ 18V Hybrid 2 Speaker Radio With Bluetooth | Bunnings Warehouse
I have a few of the ryobi hybrid bits and pieces and like all of them. A shame it doesn't have a big clock display... I'll head to bunnies and have a look on the weekend.

I have a 50 year old Astor Mantel Radio on the wall. I don't think I have had my value out of it yet considering it was a wedding present.

I ended up ordering a Bose Soundtouch Mini 10 on special. Doesn't fill my criteria, and I kind of hate Bose hifi for their marketing department, but hopefully it works out. I'll post an update when it's arrived and I've used it for a bit.

A little late to the party on this one, but none the less...
After looking for the perfect solution for a long time, I ended up just picking up a mini stereo system from gumtree for about $10. Perfect. And I don't care if it dies after a couple of years from dust etc.
