Have had good results with rotary ventilators in shed and house.

If there's a pitch on your roof, place one or more at the highest point.

6 x 3 m you could start with one and see how it goes.

Also louvered gable vents oriented to the prevailing winds can be helpful.
    Cheers, Ern

In additional to Rsser's ideas, consider growing a good shade tree on the east and west sides of your shed, and/or maybe a creeper vine over the shed roof.
I make things, I just take a long time.

If the shed has rain gutters on it don't grow a tree near it unless you like work cleaning gutters and the roof.

I painted the roof on mine white and it droped the temp by quite a bit and the shade idea helps a lot too. Like Ern said, start with one and go from their.

Sling some shade cloth over it on a frame of some sort. Stop the sun hitting the shed and it will be a lot cooler.

    How high is your shed?
What kind of workshop is it going to be?

Did you put in the same size rotary ventilator that you would use on a house?

This shed is 6x3m Absco workshop which can be viewed on the Absco web sit. Currently it is 2.3 from the concrete floor to the gable.

I have seen the plant idea before any green thumbs know of a plant that would suit?

The rotary ventilators as talked about above, is that the same size as the ones on a house?

    Thanks

Vents at each end of the gable would be cheaper than a whirly bird. It may also be prudent to put a vent lower down the wall to get a thermosiphon effect going ie colder air coming in at the base pushing the hotter air out at the top.

Cyclones do a good job of ventilating sheds... apparently.

Depends on your taste in trees. A trip to your local nursery would be a start and for the right help. I've got two deciduous things growing down here along the west side. I can't remember the name, but their common as muck down this way - and too. One day they'll get ripped out and replaced.
