Thread: Group shed planning

Geez Tony, you are more than generous with the size of the Art studio and Bunk room. I can understand the art room size, as to keep the artisan happy, but the bunk rooms I have had the pleasure of bunking have been significantly smaller.

I have an idea.......I'll move in.
I am trying to squeeze a 6 x 6 m shed in my backyard and I have a similar tool list to you.

There are good books about on setting up workshops and search Google images for heaps of ideas.
I can't use the good sketch programs so I am not much help in that area.

With that space you should be able to break up the area into rough prep work (up the front near the container storage!), construction (plenty of natural light would be good), finishing(preferably sealed off from the rest of the work areas) and display (probably near the Art studio).

The only risk you have is getting exhausted walking from one end of the shed to the other!

That's one good size shed you got there.
I can do your drawing for you but you have to steer the whole thing to what you want.
If you want to do this right you will need to get sizes for every thing that going in and around the shed.
Lot of measurements on the shed itself...where are the beams, post, doors, power, ect ect

If you are still wanting to move ahead PM me and we can work out the best way to communicate to each other as there will be lots of info to go back and forwards between us to make this work.

Tonto, that certainly is a good sized shed.
What I would do is to draw a scale model (1cm=1m as that is a good starting point) of the shed and all the equipment that you want to put into it, (probably butchers paper as it is nice and big). Using cardboard for the equipment (scaled again with power req 10/15amp) and place it where you think will give you the best workable layout, without walking miles, sorry kms, to pass the timber from the saw - thicknesser- bandsaw -where ever. Put a bit of bluetak on the back of the cardboard to hold in position, that way you can move equipment around with out breaking into a sweat.
Make sure to leave plenty of room around the saw to cut sheet material crossways and also for the longest lengths you might handle. To save some room, equipment could be put on a slight angle instead of in line.
