Storage shed
My main shed also houses items not required for my woodworking hobby like house paints, tents, ladders etc. etc.
Time to get them into their own shed and give me back some work room.
Slab now down.

Material for retaining walls walls arrives this week so that’s next weekends job.
Only major problem will be the relocation of the dust extractor shed - the entry hole into my work shed can be seen as the black ring on the green shed wall. It sat directly against that wall but I won’t have room in the new shed for it.

Retaining wall up
Bunnings at 8:30 to pick up the 16mm rebar and sleeper screws ready for an early start and some $#&’jh parks in the exit lane in the trade area then goes inside to do his shopping. Wasted 15 minutes SWMBO and myself finally got a start at 10:00
All finished with drainage and enviro cloth and back filled.

I've not seen tp poles like that. A Sydney thing, or do I just not get out much? I assume they would be cheaper than sawn 'sleeper' equivalent?

They have been around for years in Sydney. I have them in other places so I thought I’d match. They are called slabs. Very hard to get now - looks like most places are phasing them out. The place I bought some from in 2003 no longer stocks any treated pine. He says that the treated pine sleepers are so wet when he gets them that they warp badly as they dry. Slabs are OK but he’s dropping the lot.
Rang 4 suppliers before I found some but had to pay a premium for cartage.
Dearer that sleepers if you cube them out.

Storage shed
I’ve got a similar project on the go...although progress has been drawn out over ~6months!
Had to build a foundation wall of besser blocks, and now have the slab down and half the colourbond shed kit built. Currently on hold after having had knee surgery a couple weeks ago. It’s a 3x4.5m ‘garden shed’ for the mowers, firewood, garden tools etc. I might look at putting the DC in there at some point... maybe.
Will be great to gain some space back in the workshop!
What’s your plan for the shed construction?

Should have gone bigger Peter.
Hoping all goes well with the knee.
cheers Peter

I’m putting up a 3m x 3m which is the biggest I can put up without seeking council approval and a paying them a hand full of cash.
i was tossing up just extending the green shed you can see but same thing re council. Also a lot more $$$$$$$.
Probably buy a shed from Steel Chief. Have a friend that bought one and it puts the cheaper tin foil sheds to shame.
Still haven’t made up my mind though so open to suggestions

Oh right, what’s council approval worth?
I just went with the cheap ‘tin foil’ solution! Ended up getting an Easy Shed. Can’t fault it so far really, I mean I didn’t have great expectations but it’s all as I’d have thought. Pretty sick of tech screws... but I wasn’t about to sub them out for pop rivets [emoji16].
They always have sales, so I think I got it for $1400 from memory. Made in Albury, Bluescope steel... and I had a good recommendation from a local shed builder. Structurally... there’s no frame really, just a single truss in the centre then it’s essentially monocoque, with 90mm top hats for rigidity. So we’ll see how rigid it becomes when assembled.

using pop rivets occasionally is a good security system, tec screws are easy to remove to gain access but rivets pose a longer stay to get access

Last time I went through council for a pergola ( big one that when past the building sides and it has a roof), it cost close on $1100 before i started any building.
I bought a cheapie to store my wood in and it was a mixture of pop rivets tech screws and a heap of swear words. Screw holes didn’t line up, panels were that thin if you sneezed you blew a dent in it. Took 3 of us to support it during assembly. I bought a similar size one, but dearer, for my extractor shed and I put that up myself so I decided to go with a dearer one. The Steel Chief one comes partially preassembled in 6 panels (including the roof) and is similar to one my mate has had for over 20 years.
I’ve just about run out of swear words so I don’t mind paying a bit more for convenience of construction

Ended up ordering my shed from Col Western in Gosford. Nice shed, full panels, good steel thickness and sliding door. Only 6 panels to fit together (including the two roof panels).
It will arrived Wednesday.
Other place in Victoria failed to ring back three times even when I spoke to the receptionists
First order of the day is to see if I can fit my dust extractor shed on the slab along with the new shed as the company that poured the Slab stuffed up the measurements and the slab is 100mm short in both directions
The extractor shed is now facing 90o away from its original direction so I had to reposition the motor and impellor on the moveable base.
The slab is 75mm lower than the ground that the extractor shed was on so I also had to raise the dust extractor motor and impellor 75mm from the moving base, at the same time, so it would clear the workshop floor and fit into the internal ducting.

Due to the the new position of the extractor shed, the pipe work had to be repositioned 300mm to the right so a section of hardiplank had to come out.
Got it all hooked up and working temporarily as I’ll have to remove it all so I can erect the new shed.

Once all thats done and the pipe work is in the correct position I can close up the hole into the shed.

It's a pity you couldn't just added a 100-150mm skirt to the slab to make it work as per the original plan...

Unfortunately I had already put up the retaining walls before I found out the slab was wrong. Nowhere to move now

One thing leads to another
All the soil from the excavation for the shed had to go somewhere

So I had to turf it

As BobL said in another post - one thing leads to another and on it goes. Hoping it will stop soon
