    Default Waterproofing advice

The previous owners bodged a carport into a garage. I'm slowly converting it to a decent shed.

I'm about to level the last bit of floor with red tongue boards, but there's a bit of water ingress along the external wall - pictures below. The path and carport look like they were built to drain where the stud wall now stands. There's no membrane or waterproofing (the frame sits directly on the ground ). Re-doing it properly is beyond my time/skills at the moment, so I need to come up with a reasonable solution to keep the water out for now. Comprehensive renos in the future will sort it out, but I need my shop now!

Any suggestions on how I might protect the new floor? I'm using treated ironbark for the joists - they're treated to live in the ground and be garden retaining, so they should be reasonably resistant. I'd just like to limit the amount of water coming in and the damage it might do.

Some sort of mastic sealant? Water will still come under the door though.
I'm assuming that the floor will be above the ground and so you'll have a step up. If so perhaps you can create a sill inside the door, a strip of treated pine with sealant under.
All relatively temporary I would think.

Fibre glass matting and 4 coats UV stabilised waterproof membrane 100mm out onto path and 100mm up wall with 50 x 50 aluminium angle at door opening. You will need to do the steps as well

Is the outside just soil? or is it paved all round? and is it just at the doorway or you having issues around the entire garage/shed?

If its just at the doorway/one side of the shed you could redirect the water using drainage channel or even if you dig the soil to just below the slab/paving it'll prevent most of the water flowing back into the shed. Small amount of cauk on the outside should prevent the rest from coming in.

Alternatively as rwbuilder says, water proof membrane will also do the trick, but you'll want to redirect the water away from the shed as much as possible.

    Thanks all

It’ll have to be the rwbuild method I think. It’s not soil - it’s that awful 70,s pebble-dash concrete stuff. Hard as F
