Window covering?
Hi guys.
Am needing blinds, curtains or other suggestions to stop neighbours looking into my shed at night while working.
Window is standard shed size of 1275 wide x 790 high, metal frame.
I’ve no issues building a wooden frame around the window to support rods etc.
So looking for suggestions on what to use. Am looking for as cheap as possible, given realistically that I’d like some privacy and not necessarily full block out during day.
Open to suggestions
Thanks fellas

Some type of venetian blind could be the answer. Easy to adjust to let light in during the day by either lifting right up or tilting, and at night it is just a matter of tilting to the correct angle. Timber slats wouldn't look out of place in the workshop. Spotlight, Lincraft and Bunnings sell these, apart from the specialists suppliers, but not sure if you need designer blinds in a workshop.

i had the cheapest roller blind installed that I could buy when i had the house fitted out - it has a thin white translucent "plasticy" material that was perfect for the small amount of privacy you want. Admittedly I've only rolled it up twice in the years I've lived here....

I bought a vinyl venetian from Bunnings, they’re trimmable to size and cheap but do the job.

Not exactly a window shade but a bougainvillea growing across one window I think acts as a bit of a shade and an entry deterrent.

You could hang some furr handcuffs, whips and other like items in the window to stop them looking in????
To be honest, I'd just get a cheap roller blind from the Junk Shop or the Green Shed, basically the same place. To grow old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

I think the venetian is the best bet. You can angle it to stop people looking in but still get good light. Only hassle is they collect dust. The handcuffs and whips may stop most people after the first look but some others could be attracted back.

One thing I like about this forum is the sense of humour of some of its members.
The other thing is the lack of humour of others
Haha
To be honest I hadn’t even thought of venetians, blinds and curtains yes, but Venetians no, and man are some cheap at Bunnings AND cheaply made! [emoji15][emoji30]

I have cheap roller blinds from KMart but they only go to 80cm wide, not 125cm like you asked for. I wouldn’t use Venetians unless you like cleaning

I find the easiest way to clean Venetians, is hang them on the clothesline and run the Karcher over them.
If they're cheap enough what's cleaning them????To grow old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

I like Bob's bougainvillea idea but they take too long to grow as do rose bushes. Stinging Nettles are great for keeping people back especially if they wear shorts but are seasonal.
A large German Shepherd that lunges and snaps at anything near the window especially if it rains drool when barking is also very good at keeping people away. Food, vet bills and Windex to keep the window clean make them more costly. FANG!!! is a good name.
I would take a page from the interior designer types and put up two curtain rods. One with sheers for the daytime and the second with thicker curtains for the evening. They have the benefit of a little sound deadening. You can take them outside and shake the dust out of them as needed. Best saved for a breezy day when the wind is blowing towards the snoopy neighbours house.

Our Bouganvillias grow like like weeds and need a good trimming twice a year.
Wouldn't work around our parts. They'd be queuing up for a stickybeak if they saw a hint of something different.
A better deterrent might be a couple of pairs of stained Y-fronts.
If they looked thought one window in my shed they'd see a pile of broken glass on top of SWMBO glass working bench.
Through the other window they'd see lots of gizmos with red and blue lights and they would not have a clue as to what they mean.
I also have one of these.

There is an old saying that we came from dust and when the lights go out we return to dust (eventually) so on that reasoning the dust around me house and shed could be someone I know, would hate to disturb them therefore dusting is not done around our place.
